IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Rwanda Energy Group’s (REG) operating companies have gone live with IFS Applications™ 9 in the first phase of the implementation of an Integrated Business Management Solution (IBMS). REG is Rwanda’s national grid operator, comprising Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL) and Energy Development Corporation Limited (EDCL). This represents a major milestone in the organisation’s drive to streamline its business processes, improve corporate governance and enhance operational performance.
The first phase of the project was completed in just 8 months and positions the organisation to drive efficiencies throughout its business and improve customer service by adopting industry best practices. In the next phase, IFS and business partner Fluentgrid will roll-out the customer management and incident reporting management solutions. This phase is expected to be completed and launched by December 2017.
The investment forms part of a reform of the Rwandan energy sector, which sees government focus on the expansion and upgrading of the country’s electrical infrastructure. As the entities spearheading this initiative, EUCL and EDCL needed to invest in a comprehensive and fully integrated ERP system to achieve operational excellence.
The IFS solution will reach 1,300 employees across a 33-branch network countrywide. REG chose IFS Applications based on its rapid deployment process, friendly user-interface and post implementation support.
The IFS solution supports mission-critical business processes such as financials, human resources and payroll, supply chain management, inventory, procurement and project management. The next phase will bring about improvement in the way end-consumers interact with EUCL.
The project was sponsored and supported by the World Bank, the Belgium Government, the Belgium Development Agency, the European Union and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
