Securex South Africa exhibitors reveal plans for the 2018 show

Exhibitors are preparing to unveil a host of new products and services to the thousands of visitors expected to attend Africa’s biggest security and fire focused trade exhibition, to be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg from May 22 to 24.

New Teltron (stand F21) is launching the Fargo DTC1500 direct-to-card printer at Securex. Field upgradeable to dual sided and lamination, energy efficient and highly versatile, the DTC1500 offers the first ever customisable watermark feature and provides the convenience and lower cost of high-capacity consumables along with innovative, easy-to-implement security elements.

The Powell Tronics stand (B07) will offer the latest in advanced access control solutions. The company will showcase biometric control and RFID access control solutions from leading manufacturers, as well as demonstrating working solutions of PT‐Rollcall for educational institutions and PT‐Guest for visitor management.

“Securex provides the perfect opportunity to share the latest mobile feature set within the Powell Tronics‐developed ATOM time and attendance solution,” said John Powell, CEO at Powell Tronics.

“We’re currently finalising negotiations for a high‐end wireless technology brand and hope to include this within our Securex offering. This is the first time in South Africa that this technology is available to the security sector and we are confident that it will become the installers’ choice due to its app‐based configuration tool.

“This is a particularly exciting year as Powell Tronics is celebrating 10 years of incorporation. While we strive to keep up to date with the latest technology, our service, support and solutions integrity remains our primary focus.”

Suprema (A02B), a leading global provider of biometrics and ID solutions, will be showcasing a handful of exciting new products and solutions, alongside its extensive range of IP access control devices, PC fingerprint solutions and integrated software solutions. Suprema’s most recent additions include BioEntry P2/ R2, CoreStation an intelligent controller and the brand new BioLite N2 and Xpass D2, recently launched worldwide.

More specialised products on show include Suprema Live Scanners, ePassport readers and embedded fingerprint modules that can be built into hardware solutions requiring optimal fingerprint biometric authentication for various applications such as access control terminals, time attendance devices, door locks, alarm panels, safes, vending machines, automotive, ATMs and fast-growing IoT applications.

BioRugged’s mobile Android terminals with Suprema’s high-precision, integrated fingerprint sensors will also be available for demonstration, including three new terminals, namely the BioWolf 8N, Ruggbo 2 and Ruggbo 20 Lite. Visitors are also able to request to see the BioRugged in action, SmartCash Transact, a cardless transaction app that runs on BioRugged terminals, as well as the organisation’s value-add integrations including Arteco, ipixa/NX Witness, Impro and Saflec.

Active Track (H03), a company that helps to keep guards awake, ensures that they carry out patrols and assists with an overall improved security service, will showcase new Active Track devices boasting improved battery life (up from the previous battery life of up to 24 hours) and enhancing on-site use. The organisation has also developed a new range of more customer-friendly reports based on feedback received from its customers.

Mitsubishi Electric (B10), a recognised global leader in the research, manufacturing, marketing and sales of electrical and electronic equipment used in communications, consumer electronics, industrial technology, energy and transportation, will focus on its recently launched LED, DLP Video Wall Engine with an extended 24/7 lifetime of 130,000 hours (the equivalent of 15 years).

Blackphone South Africa (D18), exclusive reseller of Secure Mobile Communications Company, Silent Circle, is using Securex 2018 to launch its GoSilent Mobile Firewall offering, the first portable integrated virtual private network (VPN), application firewall and cloud analytics solution to safeguard remote or teleworking users.  For the first time, the enterprise can have visibility and control over protecting BYOD or corporate devices out at the edge – from wherever they are accessing the Internet. GoSilent provides military-grade network security in an easy-to-use and endpoint independent way.

Furthermore, ZKTeco (A03), a globally renowned provider of security, access control and time management solutions, is focusing on solutions for this year’s expo, examining how its products can be integrated into any platform. Showcasing its ZkBioSecurity all-In-one solution platform, the organisation also plans to launch new products for entrance control solutions, inspection control solutions and access control solutions.

Secutel Technologies (C12) is unveiling the most up-to-date developments in access control and visitor management systems, guard tracking and monitoring, as well as a unique surveillance solution with built-in facial collection and facial recognition analytics. The company will also highlight its latest camera-to-cloud video cameras and surveillance solutions, with the following supporting analytics – people counting, intrusion detection, integrated cloud-based VMS, scene analysis, privacy protection and activity heat maps.

Finally, Aventura Technologies (F04), an innovative designer, developer and manufacturer of hardware and software products and peripheral solutions for government, military and enterprise, will be debuting a new walk-through metal detector with built in facial recognition.
