Leumi set to launch mobile banking van nationwide

Bank Leumi is expected to launch its first mobile bank van serving the general public, having obtained the necessary approvals from the Bank of Israel. Over the coming few weeks the mobile van will begin delivering banking services in less accessible areas in the country; this will be in addition to the digital banking services provided by the van to senior citizens living in assisted living facilities.

Leumi’s mobile van currently provides digital banking services (ATMs and information terminals) to customers living in retirement homes and assisted living facilities around the country – from Kiryat Motzkin in the north to Be’er Sheva in the south. The vehicle is accessible and is fitted with ATM services and information terminals for executing transactions. The van includes a banker, who assists customers in carrying out their banking transactions and in operating the information terminals.

Over the coming few weeks this service will be extended to other destinations: remote communities and commercial centres which do not have banking services. At the same time, the van will be turned into a mobile bank branch, providing customers with a broad range of banking services (in addition to the digital services available today).

Dan Cohen, Head of the Banking Division at Leumi: “The launch of our mobile branch is a significant development since it brings the branch to our customers’ doorstep. We identified a real need for banking services coming from senior citizens living in assisted living facilities. For several months now our mobile branch has been delivering services to this population around the country. We have also mapped the areas where banking services are in short supply, or places where the public has greater difficulty accessing a bank branch, and we intend to reach out to them and deliver advanced, friendly and high-quality services”.
