XtraDesktop speeds, scales and simplifies DaaS deployments with Tintri

Tintri Inc, a leading provider of enterprise cloud platforms, has announced that XtraDesktop, a Dutch IT service provider that hosts, deploys, and manages a VMware Horizon Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS), has deployed Tintri’s all-flash storage systems.

XtraDesktop has adopted Tintri to support its DaaS testing and production workloads, delivering a range of improvements over a previous Atlantis-based solution, including better insights, linear scalability, simplified management and faster on-boarding for new DaaS partners. The Tintri systems are already supporting over 700 VMs, with capacity in place for several thousand more.

The deployment of Tintri was prompted by the need to deliver a more powerful infrastructure solution that would be easier to scale as demand for its DaaS service increased. The deployment has enabled XtraDesktop to reduce problems from running multiple workloads on the same array, while giving the ability to host 2,000 VMs on one Tintri unit. In addition, Tintri analytics enables them to more accurately predict capacity requirements, and quickly scale-out to on-board new partners faster.

“I have been following Tintri for several years, so I already knew that their virtualisation-aware storage systems would be perfect for us,” explained Marco Broeken, Chief Technology Officer at XtraDesktop BV. “We didn’t bother running a Proof-of-Concept trial with any other vendor, since none of the other solutions came close to the manageability and flexibility of the Tintri systems. We plan to use Tintri for our production workloads going forward.”

“XtraDesktop is focused on the needs of their partners both now and into the future, and understand that the ability to scale must be accompanied by real insight and analytics,” explained David Griffiths, VP of EMEA, Tintri. “They now have a solution which supports their business objectives while delivering the performance demanded by DaaS users.”
