Vodafone wins international tender for the Águas de Portugal Group

On World Water Day, Vodafone Portugal has announced that it will provide data circuit services in the infrastructures of the 13 companies that make up the Águas de Portugal (AdP) Group.

The recently signed contract is yet another large scale, technologically sophisticated project for Vodafone, reinforcing its positioning as a global operator capable of offering a genuinely integrated and differentiated high quality service.

Selected through an international public tender, Vodafone will supply the AdP Group’s data network which connects over 120 locations across Portugal and will provide a range of services and applications common to all the operating companies.

Since all corporate services have great importance for the normal operation of Águas de Portugal, the solution was custom-designed, combining different fixed and mobile access technologies.

In addition to being supported on a highly developed technological infrastructure and a next-generation fibre network which now reaches more than 2.7 million homes and businesses, the solution is based on the 4G network.

The project also has the capacity to be scalable to respond to eventual growth in bandwidth, allowing the flexibility required for the development of new AdP Group functionalities and services. At the same time, it ensures maximum reliability and security of data traffic.

“Vodafone is once again demonstrating its unwavering commitment to Portuguese business, working daily to develop value added propositions and offer companies the best means to respond to the challenge of digital transformation,” said Paula Carioca, Vodafone Portugal’s Director for the business sector.

The companies of the Águas de Portugal Group provide services, directly or indirectly, to around 80% of the Portuguese population in the areas of water supply and waste water treatment. The Group, which also operates in the areas of renewable energy, shared services and international markets, will benefit from technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
