Somerset County Cricket Club selects ITEC as technology partner

Somerset County Cricket Club (SCCC) has signed an agreement that will see ITEC become the club’s official technology partner.

The new three-year partnership will see prominent ITEC branding appear within the Cooper Associates County Ground and the two organisations will be working together to provide ground-wide Wi-Fi for spectators, to help improve the match day experience.

From the start of the 2019 season, ITEC will provide the club with ground-wide Wi-Fi for the first time, allowing those inside the ground to browse the Internet and share their experience on social media. This will also help to improve the service that the club offers on non-match days, with businesses, organisations and individuals able to take advantage of the new service when using the Cooper Associates County Ground for conferences, meetings and presentations.

Regarding the launch of the ground-wide Wi-Fi, Somerset CCC Strategy Director, Sarah Trunks, said: “Ground-wide Wi-Fi has been on our agenda for some time and it’s the next logical step to take when considering the match day experience and additional value for our members and supporters.

“With the ICC Cricket World Cup coming to Taunton alongside the installation of the new floodlights, now is the perfect opportunity to further our digital vision and thanks must go to all those who have been involved in the process thus far.

“We are delighted to further our relationship with ITEC, who have previously supplied the club’s printers for the last 12 years. It is a dynamic and growing company with its roots firmly placed in the South West and we look forward to working with the company to deliver this service over the next few years.”

Nick Parsons, Account Director from ITEC, said: “SCCC have a clear digital strategy and are embracing market-leading technology to achieve its goals. We at ITEC are excited and proud to deliver the technology based 100% around its requirements and provide full service to ensure the project’s success.

“The new Wi-Fi solution will put SCCC at the forefront of mobility technology, making it one of the most advanced stadiums in the UK. It will provide additional revenue generation tools and seamless wireless mobility to its visitors, allowing access to exclusive social media content, replays, rewards and promotions, enhancing the experience at the ground in unprecedented ways.”

ITEC is one of the UK’s leading managed service providers, specialising in IT and print services. It is on a mission to drive businesses and schools to success through powerful technology strategies and partnerships, and work with global vendors like HP, Mitel and Microsoft to make it happen.

The news follows a strong period of growth for Bristol-based ITEC, which increased revenue to £45 million in 2018 and created over 20 new highly skilled technical roles throughout the South West.
