Epicor ERP utilised by SMI to support expansion

Epicor has announced that Saudi Mechanical Industries (SMI), a manufacturer of fluid flow and control equipment, has implemented the next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor ERP, to support their rapidly expanding business.

The solution which serves as the backbone of SMI’s core business, has allowed the company to streamline processes and increase efficiency and productivity across all functional areas including manufacturing, sales and finance. This has not only translated in to significant reduction in cost and increased profitability but has also allowed SMI to offer its customers a much higher level of customer service.

Commenting on the decision to deploy Epicor ERP, Audeh Awartani, MIS and process improvement manager for Saudi Mechanical Industries, said, “Over the past few years, we have added a number of factories across the world and to support this growth, it was clear that we needed a more sophisticated and dynamic ERP solution that would allow us to consolidate, streamline and integrate processes across all sites. Epicor iScala ERP had been a vital part of our manufacturing operations for over 10 years and given our satisfaction with the solution and our experience with Epicor, we decided to continue our partnership.”

Following the implementation of Epicor ERP in September 2015, SMI experienced an overall reduction in its operational cost while maintaining the same high standards across all functions. The company increased productivity and improved its customer relations by using real-time data to reduce the time between when a customer places an order and when the order is shipped. The automated planning and scheduling system also helped maximize the output of existing equipment and enabled employees to easily access real-time information, allowing them to make more informed decisions, faster. Having this increased visibility of data also greatly enhanced inventory control and capacity planning.

In addition to improving processes and reaping operational efficiencies, SMI has also greatly benefitted from being able to consolidate all users on to one uniform application. This feature has facilitated greater sharing and visibility of workflow across all departments and has allowed users to easily access accurate and real-time transaction data with just a couple of clicks. The system also effectively integrated SMI with its business partners, locally and internationally, improving transparency and supplier performance.

“Epicor has been one of our key partners and allies over the past ten years as we have continued to grow and expand our operations. The deployment of Epicor ERP has allowed us to realise significant operational efficiencies, improve visibility and collaboration and has enabled the management team to focus on driving innovation and business growth rather than worrying about day-to-day business processes. We have placed our complete trust in Epicor solutions and we would recommend it to any business looking for a platform that they can rely on to serve as the backbone of their core business and help them achieve business growth,” concluded Awartani.

“SMI is a prime example of how Epicor technologies can be a definitive part of a company’s long term business roadmap. Our solutions scale in line with customer requirements and we are constantly adding new features and capabilities to meet the needs of highly specific industry sectors such as manufacturing,” said Hesham El Komy, senior director, channels at Epicor International. “This technical expertise is backed by the support of our dedicated local team that maintains ongoing communications with each customer to understand their evolving needs, and identify ways in which we can continue to improve their efficiency so they can focus on growing the business.”
