STC and Gemalto showcase e-SIM & Remote Subscription Management solution

Saudi Telecom Company and Gemalto will together showcase the e-SIM and Remote Subscription Management solution on the STC booth at GITEX Technology Week 2016 (Oct 16th-20th, Dubai World Trade Centre). The showcase will demonstrate how STC’s customers can provision and manage subscriptions on devices remotely via a single embedded SIM (e-SIM) resulting in more efficient and cost-effective deployment models while enabling rapid distribution and device activation.

This solution will allow for an enhanced user experience in a new era of technology adoption that supports multi-device usage – such as smart watches, fitness trackers, drones, tablets, laptops, other wearable devices or even connected cars. The e-SIM is a key driver of IoT and M2M communications, while reducing costs and improving flexibility and efficiency as it drives economies of scale. The e-SIM will accelerate the growth of the IoT/M2M Industry in the region by providing a single standard for remote SIM provisioning. In the wearables sector alone, Frost and Sullivan predicts that shipments in the Middle East and North Africa region will grow from 90 million units in 2016 to over 200 million in 2020.

The collaboration between STC and Gemalto intends to avoid market fragmentation and also drives economies of scale for all stakeholders and supports the development of a strong e-SIM ecosystem. STC recognises that an outstanding end user experience is the key to realising the full potential of all these fast emerging leading edge technologies.

“At STC, we are constantly innovating and developing our products and solutions to simplify and enrich the lives of our valued customers. Consumer and Enterprise customers increasingly rely on multiple devices for many reasons and they all expect the same seamless experience, no matter what the device or when they use it. This is why we are working with companies like Gemalto to create GSMA compliant e-SIM solutions – to ensure we are providing best-in-class services for our customers.,” said Dr. Tariq Enaya, SVP of Enteprise Business Unit for STC. “This demonstration of e-SIM adds further impetus to the initiative of Saudi Arabia’s Vison 2030 by establishing Saudi Arabia as a global leader in all aspects and as a technology innovator in the Middle East region”, he added.

“STC is preparing for the scalar growth in demand for connected devices,” said Eric Claudel, President for Middle East and Africa at Gemalto. “Our solution gives them the tools to deliver an outstanding customer experience for connecting industrial, commercial and consumer devices, and securely manage the lifecycle of cellular subscriptions.”
