Securing industrial Internet top priority for Middle East CISOs

Securing the Industrial Internet is the top priority for Middle East Chief Information Security Officers (CISO), one of the world’s leading consultancies challenged today at the GITEX CISO Breakfast Briefing.

Spending on the Industrial Internet– combining Big Data with the Internet of Things – is set to impact $15 trillion of global GDP by 2030, according to a recent report by the consultancy Accenture. However, these technologies can expose companies to cyber security risk, and only 44% of organisations have end-to-end security in place.

“Security is becoming more relevant than ever before in today’s hyper-connected world. Our increasingly digitised ecosystem presents us with both opportunities and challenges. Governments and businesses in every industry need to adapt to this new reality by creating an agile and resilient security framework that actively prevents and combats cyberattacks,” said Tony Karam, Managing Director of Accenture Digital in the Middle East and North Africa, on the sidelines of the GITEX CISO Breakfast Briefing 2016.

“The bad guys never rest, and they will always be testing the limits of every organisation. This means business must think differently and deeply embed cyber defence strategies across the entire value chain,” added Tony Karam.

Sponsored by network security company ForeScout Technologies, Inc., the invite-only closed-door CISO Breakfast Briefing saw CISOs from a wide range of industry verticals exchange knowledge on Internet security advancements, and share best practices on challenges and opportunities.

The session featured Michael P. DeCesare, CEO and President of ForeScout Technologies Inc., which is transforming security through visibility. ForeScout offers Global 2000 enterprises and government organisations the unique ability to see devices, including non-traditional devices, the instant they connect to the network. As of January 2016, more than 2,000 customers in over 60 countries improve their network security and compliance posture with ForeScout solutions.
