Oman’s Information Technology Authority chooses Oracle Cloud to boost infrastructure

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) of Oman has chosen a suite of Oracle Cloud solutions to create a robust IT infrastructure that will power its g-Cloud initiative for e-transformation projects.

The ITA supports Omani government entities develop innovative eServices and the news was welcomed by Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Executive Officer, ITA, and Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, Senior Vice President -Tech, Middle East and Africa, Oracle.

Dr. Al Ruzaiqi said: “At ITA we are focused on creating a modern government infrastructure that delivers swift, transparent and intuitive services to citizens, residents and visitors. Engaging in such  MoUs will serve that purpose as Oracle has great  g-Cloud solutions and an accredited record in encouraging  entrepreneurship.”

The Oracle solution offers complete SaaS application suites for ERP, HCM and CX, plus best-in-class database Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) from data centres throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Furthermore, in continuation of its efforts to drive digital transformation in Oman, Oracle has also signed two MoUs to support ITA Oman’s Sas Programme for Entrepreneurship and  has also launched Oracle’s first Oman IT graduate programme with ITA.

Under the entrepreneurship programme, Oracle will guide Omani start-ups on the importance of cloud technology to achieve business objectives with mentoring programmes, expert talks, workshops and also by providing access to the Oracle Partner Network.

The IT graduate programme will witness Oracle collaborate with its partners to create customised programmes for Omani graduates to equip them with digital skill sets including cloud technologies that will help them build a career in Oman’s fast-growing IT industry.

“Since its inception, the ITA Oman has been instrumental in driving digital transformation across various government entities in Oman”, said Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban.

“ITA’s G Cloud initiative is a key step towards delivering innovative citizen services and we are confident that Oracle’s modern, secure and cost-effective cloud suite will help ITA optimise every aspect of government operations.”

The ITA is responsible for implementing national IT infrastructure projects and supervising all projects related to implementation of the Digital Oman Strategy (eOman) while providing professional leadership to various other e-Governance initiatives of the sultanate.

ITA serves as a competency centre on best practices in e-Governance and in harnessing Information and Communication Technologies, thereby offering efficient and timely services, integrating processes and improving efficiency in service delivery.

ITA, which has around 400 employees, undertakes several projects to increase technology penetration and empower its people with required digital literacy and higher levels of competence through training and innovation centres.
