Minister launches new e-commerce platform in Qatar

A new e-commerce platform has been launched in Qatar by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The platform, known as The Turkish Souq, has been officially launched by Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications.

He said: “I’m delighted to launch this platform which is set to revolutionise e-commerce in Qatar. The depth of Qatari-Turkish bilateral relations and constructive co-operation in the fields of post, transport, ports, and aviation, whose foundations were laid by the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and the Turkish President Recep Erdogan, cannot be over-emphasised.

“This platform will further strengthen the level of trade between the countries and greatly enhance the fraternal relationship between the two countries.”

He added that products ordered on the e-commerce website will reach consumers within seven days and said another 150 companies are being prepared to enter the e-commerce arena, with another 5,000 lined-up to do the same in the future.

The official launch took place in the presence of Qatar Post chairman and managing director Faleh al-Naemi, managing director of Turkish Post (PTT) Kenan Bozgeyik, Turkish ambassador Fikret Ozer and other dignitaries.
