New website is dedicated to workers’ welfare in Qatar

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) in Qatar has launched a new website specifically dedicated to workers’ welfare.

The site – www.workerswelfare.qa – features a timeline of the SC’s workers’ welfare journey, containing details of the numerous initiatives being delivered to benefit the thousands of workers engaged on 2022 FIFA World Cup projects.

Workers’ welfare is a key legacy initiative of the SC, which is responsible for delivering the infrastructure required for Qatar to host the world’s biggest single-sport event in four years’ time.

H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi, the SC’s Secretary General, said the use of Information Technology will help to share details of workers’ welfare progress in Qatar.

“We are committed to transparency in relation to workers’ welfare and this new website will include details of every project related to this area,” said Al Thawadi.

“We are proud of our achievements in relation to workers’ welfare but know there is still much to be done. We remain determined to leave a global legacy in relation to workers’ rights.”

Since winning the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and introducing the workers’ welfare standards in 2014, the SC has implemented a range of measures to safeguard workers involved in its projects.
