Siemon presents advanced network solutions for smart buildings at event

Siemon, a leading global network infrastructure specialist, has successfully participated at the 2018 BICSI Middle East and Africa Conference and Exhibition.

With a theme of ‘A Connected World – Smart Cities, Smart Buildings, Smart Infrastructure and More’, the event was held at the Ritz-Carlton in the Dubai International Financial Centre and attracted over 400 delegates representing 45 nationalities and 34 countries.

Siemon leveraged the event to highlight how its innovative IT infrastructure solutions are transforming intelligent buildings and next generation data centres.

“In today’s smart buildings, more and more IP-enabled devices are converging on to a single platform, creating substantial CAPEX and OPEX savings”, says Prem Rodrigues, Siemon’s Director for Middle East, India and SAARC.

“This requires highly flexible and efficient infrastructures that support remote powering technology such as Power over Ethernet (PoE), and the BICSI exhibition provided the ideal platform for us to demonstrate how our advanced solutions support these advancements.”

A key focal point at the Siemon stand was Siemon’s ConvergeIT Cabling Solution for Intelligent Buildings. Designed to support converged, IP-based intelligent building systems via a single structured cabling infrastructure that delivers PoE, ConvergeIT helps designers, building owners and contractors plan and deploy efficient IT cabling infrastructure that supports voice/data, wireless, lighting, video surveillance, access control, audio/video, energy management, HVAC and other services.

With the Z-PLUG field terminated plug, Siemon presented the benefits of high performance plug-terminated link technology in intelligent buildings. The latest addition to the company’s solutions range, Z-PLUG enables quick and reliable, high-performance plug terminations for IP-based and PoE-enabled devices deployed in converged networks.

End-point devices such as wireless access points, security cameras, LED lights, distributed antenna systems (DAS) and building automation devices can be rapidly deployed in the field via custom-length direct connections, eliminating the need for extra outlets and patch cords.

In a live demonstration of PoE-enabled LED lighting, visitors to the stand learned how Siemon’s network cabling can deliver low–voltage power to end devices using shielded Category 6A cabling.

At BICSI, Siemon also showcased its comprehensive portfolio of WheelHouse Advanced Data Centre Solutions that are designed to deliver reliable, low-latency, high bandwidth connections to meet the increased demands for higher data throughput, processing, analysis and storage in today’s data centres.

On display was Siemon’s V800 data centre cabinet fully populated with high-performance copper and fibre cabling and connectivity including the company’s Z-MAX Category 6A Copper Cabling Solution, LightStack Ultra High-Density Fibre System and MapIT Automated Infrastructure Management System.
