COMEX 2015 unveils latest tech

COMEX 2015, the region’s ICT Trade Fair, was officially inaugurated on April 27th by Mohammad bin Hamad Al Rumhi, Oman Minister of Oil and Gas, in the presence of Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammad Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport & Communications and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Information Technology Authority, as well as other government. 

The exhibition will continue until May 1. During the opening ceremony, the Interactive Open Door Solution was used to welcome the guest of honor and display the features of this solution by interacting with him.

Al Rumhi said: “I feel that there is a notable significant progress in the implementation of the e.oman strategy and I am happy with what I saw and heard today.

The government ambitious was to provide government eServices easy-to-citizen, and this what we see today in the exhibition represented in the great achievements in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT).”

Industry heavyweights like Cisco, Ooredoo, Avaya, Microsoft, GBM, Omantel, MGIT and Oman Fiber Optics have supported COMEX 2015 as key sponsors.

Other exhibitors include companies from Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, India, Italy, Jordan, Yemen, Estonia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Lithuania.

These participants will introduce attendees to the latest research and development in technology, new products and new opportunities that will help companies to upgrade technology platforms.

Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, talking on the important participation of government entities at e.oman pavilion, said: “The opportunities to learn, adopt and implement in Oman are enormous; not only we are exposed to the latest technology platforms and services, we also see how these innovations will bring better governance, collaboration and connectivity that aims to improve the quality of life.”

The exhibition contains three sections namely: e.oman pavilion in which all government entities will showcase their eServices, COMEX business section to promote the latest trends and technologies in fiber optics, cloud computing and integrated solutions, and COMEX shoppers section to display latest technologies, tools, products and eServices.

A number of key national infrastructure projects such as the National Digital Certification Center, G-Cloud project and several projects directed to develop small and medium enterprises will be exhibited at e.oman pavilion.

Moreover, many specialized ICT workshops will be held at e.oman pavilion. Different sections such as the Electronic media, the e-entertainment and innovations, and digital solutions will be added to e.oman pavilion this year.

A total of 34 Omani government entities are present in the pavilion to share expertise and explore new business opportunities in the field of ICT, as well as to learn through case studies of countries present.

The e.oman pavilion is also hosting international government bodies from Singapore, Lithuania, Estonia and Kuwait.
