Security vendor Clavister expands operations in North and West Africa

Clavister is opening a North African office to give direct sales and technical support to its customers and partners in the whole region. It had previously announced it is expanding operations into West Africa. Clavister recently signed a distribution agreement with Defis & Strategies, a supplier and consultancy for IT, infosecurity and telecoms solutions in sub-Saharan Africa. More strong partnerships are expected to follow in the region.

Clavister has appointed Mounia Benbouzid as Area Manager, Africa, who will head up a team of sales and technical engineers with a total of over 40 years of experience of selling and supporting security solutions in the African market, earlier working with Stonesoft and other leading vendors.

The new team will help to further drive Clavister’s expansion in the African cyber security market, which is expected to grow from $920 million in 2015 to $2.3 billion in 2020, with a compounded annual growth rate of 20%. Clavister is poised to help customers across West and North Africa to handle their cybersecurity challenges with its range of advanced Next Generation Firewalls, both virtual and regular gateway security solutions, and platforms specifically designed for mobile network operators to secure their next-generation networks.

Stephan Schmidt, Vice President Global Enterprise for Clavister said, “The African continent is a huge potential cybersecurity market, and by establishing Clavister Africa, we can deliver even better sales and technical support to our partners and customers, which will help to further accelerate our growth in the region. There is a strong demand for security solutions that have no backdoors that could be exploited by criminals or state-sponsored external parties, and we are now ideally positioned to become a leader in this fast-growing market. We have an incredibly strong team in place.”

Clavister’s solutions range from entry level next-generation firewalls in desktop-sized packages, to Virtual Series Gateways that enable the highest levels of throughput, offering 99.9999% availability for carrier-grade security in the most demanding network environments.

Clavister is a leading security provider for fixed, mobile and virtual network environments. The company was founded in Sweden in 1997, with its solutions available globally through its network of channel partners. Clavister is a member of Intel’s Network Builders program, a cross-industry initiative that enables telcos to build and manage business-critical infrastructures, with lower capital and operating costs.
