{"id":29262,"date":"2019-10-02T09:52:27","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T08:52:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/africa\/?p=29262"},"modified":"2019-10-04T11:03:27","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T10:03:27","slug":"hospital-equipment-supplier-benefits-from-qlik-sense-analytics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/africa\/2019\/10\/02\/hospital-equipment-supplier-benefits-from-qlik-sense-analytics\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital equipment supplier benefits from Qlik Sense analytics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Decision Inc. has implemented the Qlik Sense next-generation analytics platform at Medical Innovations to enhance the data its sales team needs to drive growth while delivering more interactive reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical Innovations was formed in 1988 and has subsequently become recognised as a supplier of quality hospital equipment, with innovative solutions to a broad range of customer demands both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company\u2019s business model is based on a\nquality-oriented approach with core values that include patient safety, mutual\ntrust and respect, and teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its product categories include material handling,\ntransport systems, consumables, theatre tables and accessories, and products\nfor disinfecting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The requirement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical Innovations was using an accounting software\nsolution that delivered basic reporting but did not account for the projected\ngrowth of the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I joined the organisation, we had to create a\nsales department and needed a solution that could provide us with the data\nanalysis required to better understand our customers, our most effective\nproducts, and identify monthly trends,\u201d said Manus King, CEO of Medical\nInnovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cReporting for inventory management using a timeous,\nspreadsheet-driven approach was not going to work. We needed something\ninnovative that would be capable of delivering true business intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The solution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given his knowledge of the QlikView analytics solution\nat a previous organisation, King wanted to examine ways of introducing it at\nMedical Innovations. However, after meeting with Decision Inc, it was decided\nthat the Qlik Sense next-generation analytics platform would be better suited\nto its business requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey demonstrated Qlik Sense that would provide us\nwith a more flexible environment than QlikView,\u201d said King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile it was initially difficult to get employees to\nembrace this new way of doing things, it became easier once they understood the\nvalue it would deliver.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rudie Vermaak, Client Partner at Decision Inc, says\nthat such has been the acceptance of Qlik Sense at the organisation, that\nMedical Innovations has become one of its most successful adopters in the\nWestern Cape client base of Decision Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWorking directly with Manus has enabled us to deliver\na more interactive reporting solution on their financial side that gives them\nbetter oversight of their sales,\u201d said Vermaak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPreviously, it took several days to create a report\nas the data had to be manually pulled from different systems. Now, with Qlik\nSense, it is automated and can provide insights on stock levels on an hourly basis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>King says that Qlik Sense has enabled the sales side\nof the business to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThanks to the efficiency of the solution, the sales team\ndoes not have to guess on data but can use it to derive better insights than\nwere previously possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEven though the implementation is still in its early\ndays, more people across the organisation are using it and are requesting\nspecific enhancements based on their unique requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vermaak says that a lot of work was done around change\nmanagement to ensure employees trusted the system and could experience the\nbenefits first-hand especially around how data can be better analysed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ongoing improvements we are doing to Qlik Sense\nensures the solution stays relevant to the requirements of Medical Innovations,\u201d\nsaid Vermaak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the needs of the business change, so we adapt the\nsolution consistently delivering a user-friendly experience.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Decision Inc. has implemented the Qlik Sense next-generation analytics platform at Medical Innovations to enhance the data its sales team needs to drive growth while delivering more interactive reports.
