AMEA Power, (a subsidiary of Al Nowais Investments (ANI), has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for a 200MW solar PV project and a 500MW wind power project in Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PPA was\nsigned by Sabah Mashali, President of EETC and Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of\nAMEA Power, in the presence of Egypt\u2019s Prime Minister, His Excellency Dr\nMostafa Madbouly, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, H.E.\nMohamed Shaker and the UAE Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Jomaa Al Junaibi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abyodos\nSolar Power Company (ASPC), a company fully owned by AMEA Power, will build,\nown and operate the 200MW solar project in the Kom Ombo region of Aswan under\nthe 25 year take-or-pay agreement. Meanwhile, Amunet Wind Power Company (AWPC),\nalso fully owned by AMEA Power, will build, own and operate the 500MW wind\npower project in the Ras Ghareb area under the 20 year take-or-pay agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The power\nplants, expected to be commissioned in Q4 2021 for solar and Q3 2023 for wind,\nwill be able to supply power to approximately 830,000 homes, with planned\nproduction of nearly 2.9 GWh per year. The project confirms the\ndedication of AMEA Power to support the country\u2019s firm goal of increasing the\nrenewables contribution by 42% to its energy mix by 2035.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AMEA Power\u2019s Chairman, Hussain Al Nowais, said: \u201cAs we continue to expand our global presence, we are delighted to embark on these renewable energy projects in Egypt. We are thankful for all the support that we have received in the country and we look forward to continuing to support Egypt in its drive to diversify its energy mix.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, AMEA Togo Solar\nwill build a 50MW solar plant in Blitta (271km north of Lom\u00e9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The related concession agreement was signed by the firm and the\ngovernment. Their respective representatives were Alnowais Hussain Jasim and\nD\u00e8d\u00e8riw\u00e8 Ably Bidamon, Minister of Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the deal, the State grants AMEA Togo Solar all rights to design, finance, build, launch, operate and maintain the facility.
