Dell’s AI Data Platform, part of the company’s broader AI Factory strategy, offers an open, modular foundation to transform distributed data into actionable insights. By decoupling data storage from processing, the platform eliminates performance bottlenecks and provides the flexibility required for complex AI workloads such as model training, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and inferencing.

Integrated with the NVIDIA AI Data Platform reference design, the Dell AI Data Platform is built on four core components:

Storage engines for smart data placement and seamless movement

Data engines that convert data into actionable insights

Built-in cyber resiliency

Data management services

Together, these elements create a scalable, secure foundation designed to help organisations realise AI’s full potential.

Boosting AI Storage Performance

The platform’s storage backbone is powered by Dell PowerScale and Dell ObjectScale, delivering the performance, security and multi-protocol access essential for enterprise AI workloads.

Dell PowerScale provides NAS simplicity and parallel performance optimised for AI pipelines including RAG and inferencing. With new integrations, such as NVIDIA GB200 and GB300 NVL72, and continuous software updates, PowerScale enhances reliability and simplifies large-scale management.
The PowerScale F710, now certified as an NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP) for high-performance storage, supports more than 16,000 GPUs while reducing rack space by up to 5x, cutting network switches by 88%, and lowering power consumption by up to 72% compared to competitors.

Dell ObjectScale delivers fast, scalable S3-native object storage for massive AI workloads. Now available as a software-defined option on Dell PowerEdge servers, ObjectScale offers up to eight times faster performance than previous all-flash generations. Upcoming innovations include S3 over RDMA, promising up to 230% higher throughput, 80% lower latency and 98% lower CPU usage than traditional S3. Performance updates for smaller object sizes bring up to 19% higher throughput and 18% lower latency for 10KB objects. Enhanced AWS S3 integration and bucket-level compression further streamline how developers store and move large datasets.

Smarter Data Engines for Real-Time AI

Beyond storage, Dell is expanding the data engines that organise, query and activate enterprise data – developed in collaboration with industry leaders such as NVIDIA, Elastic and Starburst.

The new Data Search Engine, built with Elastic, enables natural-language data queries for tasks like semantic search, RAG and generative AI. Integrated with Dell’s MetadataIQ discovery tool, it can scan billions of files across PowerScale and ObjectScale systems. Developers can use it with frameworks like LangChain to build smarter RAG applications, saving compute time by ingesting only updated files.

Dell’s Data Analytics Engine, developed with Starburst, allows seamless querying across spreadsheets, databases, cloud warehouses and lakehouses. A new Agentic Layer uses large language models (LLMs) to automate documentation, surface insights and embed AI into SQL workflows – turning raw data into business-ready outputs in seconds. The system also supports RAG and search across Iceberg, PostgreSQL + PGVector and Dell’s own Data Search Engine. The new MCP Server for the Data Analytics Engine enables multi-agent and AI application development with enterprise-grade monitoring and governance.

Dell’s AI Data Platform Integration with NVIDIA cuVS introduces GPU-accelerated hybrid (keyword + vector) search to the Data Search Engine, providing turnkey deployment and superior vector search performance for on-premise AI environments.

Industry leaders weigh-in

“AI is transforming industries and its success depends on unlocking the full potential of enterprise data.
