Madagascar is emerging as a model for digital identity modernisation in Africa following the digitisation of nearly 10 million civil registration records through a project led by Studia Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative, delivered as part of the national EC-MADA programme, highlights how Artificial Intelligence-powered digitisation, mobile connectivity and large-scale data processing are becoming critical foundations for Digital Transformation strategies across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Studia Inc conducted the inventory, digitisation and indexing of civil registration records across 1,695 communes in 11 priority regions. The project mobilised 500 people over seven months and used autonomous mobile units equipped with satellite connectivity and solar energy to reach remote locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company said its specialised OCR technology and AI-driven indexing systems enabled the automated extraction of handwritten data from complex paper archives while maintaining strict reliability standards required for national identity systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
