Not long ago, the Egyptian Armed Forces have established what is known as The National Service’s projects organisation. In peace-time the organisation, which has over ten sub-companies and factories, specialises in public service and civil production to ease the burden on the state and assist in economic development projects across the country. It aims to increase national revenue with a focus on strategic industries, develop relationships and co-operation between private and public sector organisations.<\/p>\n

As well as establish key development projects in the provinces of North and South Sinai, as well as the provinces of South Valley and the border provinces in order to assist their development and to attract new investments into the regions. One of the organisations run by the Armed Forces is the National Company for Building, Developing and Operating Roads.<\/p>\n

The National Company for Building, Developing and Operating Roads required a high-capacity broadband infrastructure to provide real-time surveillance across the strategic Ain Sokhna Free Road. This is 120km long, and including monitoring of all of its exit junctions and toll gates. The road has a total of 28 exits that require monitoring 24 hours a day to meet the strict control, safety and security requirements. In addition to this, the road operator also wanted an easily scalable network that it could add new sites and services to in the future without the need to rip and replace the existing infrastructure.<\/p>\n

It approached NextGen Communications<\/a>, one of InfiNet\u2019s channel partners in Egypt, to design, implement and commission the entire Fixed Broadband Wireless Access network. NextGen recommended solutions from InfiNet Wireless known to be flexible and scalable solutions, available in the marketplace. They carry both video and voice traffic with no detriment to the speed of the network.<\/p>\n

InfiNet InfiLINK 2×2<\/a> Mmx and Smn point-to-point FBWA wireless infrastructure was selected to provide a series of secure communications links<\/a>, ranging from 50 Mbps to 300 Mbps, offering high speed connectivity<\/a> to carry the traffic from IP cameras to the main operating center in Cairo.<\/p>\n

Almost immediately after the initial deployment of the network, the ease of scalability was demonstrated to the road operator, when they needed to implement a new IP telephony system on all exits. The InfiNet network<\/a> simply and smoothly accommodated the new requirement without the need to add any further hardware or software. The deployed InfiNet solution offered network reliability to the Ain Sokhna project.<\/p>\n
