{"id":13133,"date":"2022-04-07T15:40:26","date_gmt":"2022-04-07T14:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/apac\/?p=13133"},"modified":"2026-07-23T10:50:52","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T09:50:52","slug":"cerence-expands-cloud-capabilities-for-korean-drivers-through-interoperability-with-kts-ai-assistant-giga-genie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/apac\/2022\/04\/07\/cerence-expands-cloud-capabilities-for-korean-drivers-through-interoperability-with-kts-ai-assistant-giga-genie\/","title":{"rendered":"Cerence expands cloud capabilities for Korean drivers through interoperability with KT\u2019s AI Assistant, GiGA Genie"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Cerence is collaborating with Mercedes-Benz Korea to bring this integrated capability to drivers of select Mercedes-Benz models in Korea via MBUX.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AI company Cerence has announced that it has enhanced its cloud services capabilities in Korea through new interoperability with KT\u2019s GiGA Genie, the company\u2019s voice-controlled virtual assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leveraging&nbsp;Cerence Cognitive Arbitrator, Mercedes-Benz Korea has signed on as the first automaker to bring this integrated capability to drivers of select models, including Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Mercedes-Benz EQA, in Korea via its Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), its infotainment and virtual assistant system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KT, a large telecom operator and digital platform company in Korea, first introduced GiGA Genie in 2017 as an AI-powered television set-top box and integrated virtual assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GiGA Genie currently provides its three million users with voice-enabled access to a wide variety of KT content and services, including music, video, games, shopping and general knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To further extend users\u2019 access to GiGA Genie, Cerence and KT have teamed up to bring GiGA Genie\u2019s smart capabilities directly into Cerence-powered automotive assistants via Cerence Cognitive Arbitrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of MBUX, drivers can, for example, say: \u201cHey Mercedes, how much did&nbsp;<em>Parasite<\/em>&nbsp;gross at the box office?\u201d or \u201cHey Mercedes, what shall I have for dinner tonight?\u201d MBUX intuitively knows where to route the request and how best to complete the driver\u2019s desired action, providing a streamlined, effortless user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiGA Genie has been a driving force in the growing popularity of voice-powered assistants in Korea,\u201d said Kangrim Choi, SVP and Head of AI Mobility Business Unit, KT. \u201cWe are proud to partner with Cerence to bring GiGA Genie to an entirely new environment in a seamless, integrated offering that makes accessing the assistant\u2019s content, services and capabilities easy for drivers while on the go.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stefan Ortmanns, CEO, Cerence, said: \u201cConsumers globally have an ever-expanding digital life that spans a variety of assistants and services.
