{"id":31564,"date":"2023-11-20T12:01:18","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T12:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/apac\/?p=31564"},"modified":"2023-12-06T17:26:57","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T17:26:57","slug":"sri-lanka-mobile-operators-launch-countrywide-network-apis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/apac\/2023\/11\/20\/sri-lanka-mobile-operators-launch-countrywide-network-apis\/","title":{"rendered":"Sri Lanka mobile operators launch countrywide network APIs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>One hundred per cent country coverage achieved through GSMA Open Gateway initiative.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sri Lanka\u2019s mobile operator community has confirmed the commercial launch of new industry-wide network APIs, as part of the GSMA Open Gateway initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All four of the countries mobile operators \u2013 Bharti Airtel Lanka (Private) Limited, Dialog Axiata PLC, Hutchison Telecommunications Lanka Ltd and SLT-Mobitel have launched three value creating APIs: One Time Password (OTP) Validation, Device Location and Carrier Billing, giving developers and enterprises a standard way to reach over 21 million Sri Lankans regardless of their network operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, these APIs will be locally and globally federated &#8211; meaning<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>developers can reach new subscribers outside of Sri Lanka as Open Gateway coverage grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial set of APIs are pitched as having the potential to revolutionize digital adoption by Sri Lankan enterprises and developers by providing a single integration that works across all four operators in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Developed in collaboration with mobile operators worldwide, GSMA Open Gateway ensures consistent, interoperable access to mobile networks through the standards based CAMARA repository.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mats Granryd, GSMA Director General, said: \u201cWe welcome the progress and collaboration the country\u2019s four operators have demonstrated. Asia-Pacific represents the largest mobile market in the world and this shows how, together, the industry can create, enhance and bring new digital services and immersive technologies to market faster and to a wider global customer base.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MD\/CEO of Airtel, Ashish Chandra, said: \u201cThe dedication of Airtel Lanka in joining the GSMA Open Gateway initiative is commendable and it\u2019s great to see the industry moving in unison.
