Macquarie Data Centres (MDC) has signed an agreement to acquire the land and buildings on which its Macquarie Park Data Centre Campus is built as it embarks on its next phase of growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The $174 million agreement with data center real estate investment trust Keppel DC REIT follows MDC securing state-significant development approval to construct its largest ever data center, IC3 Super West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new facility brings its flagship data center campus up to a potential 63MW and is being built specifically to cater to high-density Cloud and AI workloads, including liquid cooling capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deal is part of the leading providers\u2019 wider expansion plans which are strategically prioritising growth in Sydney\u2019s North Zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David Hirst, Group Executive of Macquarie Data Centres, said: \u201cOnly purpose built, high-density data centres will be able to cater to the evolving requirements of Cloud and AI workloads. And, when it comes to Australia\u2019s critical infrastructure industries, data sovereignty is going to be one of, if not the most, significant consideration for developing these capabilities\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This strategic acquisition is the start of MDC\u2019s multi-campus acquisition plans. Combined with our Australian ownership and sovereign credentials this provides future-proofed capacity for our customers now and into the future,\u201d said Hirst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Macquarie Park Data Centre Campus is one of three of MDC campuses in Australia, alongside the Canberra Bunker Campus and Sydney CBD Campus \u2013 all of which are Certified Strategic by the Australian Federal Government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
