Shape the Future., Huawei’s Executive Director of the Board David Wang said the reports are designed to guide and quantify the next wave of Digital Transformation.

Wang said: “Every leap forward in civilization has been paired with technological exploration. The drive to explore is a core part of human nature. It encourages us to push the boundaries of knowledge and technology. And today, it is leading us toward a more intelligent world. Generative AI is opening up possibilities that we couldn’t imagine before. So, we must continue looking towards the future and build new scientific visions and assumptions.”

The Intelligent World 2035 Report: 10 tech megatrends

Over the past two years, Huawei’s research team hosted more than 200 workshops and spoke with over 100 experts, scholars, customers and partners worldwide to create the Intelligent World 2035 Report. Referencing data from trusted sources like the United Nations and the World Economic Forum, the report outlines 10 megatrends set to shape the intelligent future:

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): AGI will be the largest driver of transformation. Integrating AI with the physical world is essential to achieving AGI, which could lead to a technological singularity

AI agents as partners: As large models grow, AI agents will evolve from simple execution tools to decision-making partners, driving revolutionary changes across industries

Human-AI programming: Software development will be reshaped as AI handles repetitive coding, freeing humans to focus on creative design

Next-gen interaction: Human-computer interaction will move from graphical interfaces to natural language and multimodal systems, enabling full sensory digital experiences

Evolving apps: Mobile apps will shift from isolated functions to service nodes powered by AI agents, making tasks simpler with cross-service connectivity

Autonomous mobility: Breakthroughs in world models will enable Level 4 or higher autonomous vehicles, transforming cars into ‘mobile third spaces’

Exponential computing power: Global computing capacity will increase 100,000-fold by 2035 with innovations in semiconductors, processes, architectures and paradigms

AI-driven storage: Storage demand will surge 500 times by 2035, with AI storage accounting for more than 70% of global capacity

Agentic Internet: Nine billion people will be connected to 900 billion agents, evolving the mobile Internet into an agentic Internet

Energy and AI integration: By 2035, global data centres will consume about 1.5 trillion kWh of electricity. AI will optimise renewable energy grids, with wind and solar expected to make up 50% of the global energy mix

The report also predicts that AI will help prevent over 80% of chronic diseases by shifting healthcare from passive monitoring to proactive prevention. In China, more than 90% of homes are expected to feature intelligent robots, while 3D holograms will bring digital objects into physical living spaces.

In business, AI is forecasted to be adopted by 85% of companies by 2035, boosting productivity by 60%. AI-powered perception, analytics, decision-making and automation systems will transform production and organisational processes.

The report stresses principles like ‘AI for All’ and ‘AI for Good’ to ensure the intelligent world remains people-centric.

Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index 2025

Huawei also launched the Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index 2025 Report. This updated index builds on its previous Global Digitalization Index, factoring in new developments in AI and digital economies.

The new framework maps classical production factors – land, labour and capital – to their digital counterparts: data, ICT talent and digital and intelligent technologies. It includes updated indicators such as data scale and application, network quality, computing and storage capacity, ICT skills and innovation ecosystems.

The goal is not just to measure ICT infrastructure, but to provide insights into how countries can grow digital economies through targeted industry policy.

Wang said: “Let’s explore the unknown; let’s shape the future. These two reports will shed light on how countries should advance their Digital Transformation and develop their digital economy. Together with all our customers and partners, we will innovate to unlock new opportunities for all, so that everyone can benefit from the digital economy. Let’s keep moving forward to create that better intelligent future.”

Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Storage Platforms, 2025 has placed Huawei in the Leaders Quadrant – the only non–North American vendor to do so.
