Standard Chartered Global Business Service to be located in Warsaw

Standard Chartered announced it will open a new office in Warsaw, Poland, following appropriate approvals.

Standard Chartered Global Business Services Sp z o.o. will contain the bank’s Global Business Services (GBS) function and joins a network of GBS centres in China, India and Malaysia, all of which manage complex, large-scale, cross-border activities including technology and finance services, cybersecurity and banking operations.

The Bank also announced that Rowena Everson has been appointed as CEO Standard Chartered Global Business Services Sp z o.o. from her current role as Managing Director, Head of Business Support, Risk and Governance – Europe.

Speaking about the new centre, Stephen Sheridan, COO, Europe & Americas, said: “We’re pleased to have submitted our application to open a new, highly skilled service centre in Poland. As the bank increases its focus on clients based in Europe and the Americas, we believe it has become essential to create a western hub that can support them fully in a more beneficial time zone.”

Matthew Norris, Global Head, GBS, said: “Our investment in Poland is another important strategic step to enable access to a pool of highly skilled talent who can support our ambitions to be a digital bank with a human touch. We plan to attract the best minds in Poland to join us in redefining banking services for the world. Our new team in Warsaw will provide highly sophisticated and complex support as well as advisory capabilities to our businesses in this region and around the world.”
