Siemon partners with IDC for Cloud and Datacenter Roadshow series

Siemon, a leading global network infrastructure specialist, is pleased to announce that it is partnering with International Data Corporation (IDC), a global leader in the provision of market intelligence, ICT events and advisory services, as part of a roadshow of events tailored for data centre professionals.

The Cloud and Datacenter Roadshow takes place in eight strategically selected cities across Turkey, the Middle East and Africa with Siemon participating in Lagos, Nigeria on August 15 and Nairobi, Kenya on September 20, 2018.

Cloud-based solutions offer a lower capital expenditure which leads to a wider acceptance in the global market. IDCs own research forecasts the ‘whole cloud’ market to be valued at a total of US$554 billion within the next three years.

Data centres and colocation facilities are the underlying engines for cloud-based technologies and as businesses globally move towards ‘cloud-first’ strategies, the roadshow aims to educate and engage with professionals within the sector to enable understanding of the key technologies that can future-proof their facilities and enhance service levels for their customers.

As a global manufacturer of network infrastructure solutions, Siemon offers market-leading copper, fibre and enclosure solutions that help organisations power their digital transformation agenda globally. Siemon’s WheelHouse portfolio of advanced data centre solutions comprises category 6A and higher shielded and unshielded copper cabling systems, advanced multimode and singlemode fibre optic cabling solutions supporting 40/100 Gb/s and independently tested high-speed interconnect cable assemblies. Also, part of the portfolio are data centre cabinets that have been designed to optimise space and energy management, as well as pre-configured solutions pre-loaded with cabling, connectivity and power distribution units for enhanced speed of on-site deployment.

Speaking on Siemon’s involvement in the roadshow, James Kiriamiti, Marketing and Partner Manager for Europe, Russia and Africa, said: “Data centres are an extremely important strategic focus for Siemon. We recognise the shift towards cloud-based services with data centres being the fundamental enabler for such services. Over the past five years, we have successfully grown our presence in Africa and will continue to do so. We recognise a growing flow of investment into emerging markets such as Nigeria and Kenya, which have seen strong growth in GDP and infrastructure development as many companies leapfrog into the digital world. This is why we have decided to partner with IDC in these two cities.”

In his presentation entitled ‘The need for speed in emerging data centre applications’ Dinesh OP, Regional Technical Manager at Siemon will discuss how Africa’s data-heavy consumption will impact data centres across the region and offer practical long-term solutions to the imminent challenges. Additionally, the presentation will cover how a well-thought-out data centre design and physical layer component selection can effectively increase scalability, flexibility and manageability in the data centre.
