SANS Institute takes first cybersecurity training event to Manchester in 2020

SANS Institute, a global leader in cybersecurity training and certifications, is bringing its world-renowned cybersecurity training to Manchester for the very first time in February 2020. From 24-29 February, IT security professionals looking to learn directly from world-leading cybersecurity practitioners, can develop and extend their cybersecurity skills by attending SANS Manchester. The event offers the choice of five immersion-style cybersecurity training sessions, each designed to provide attendees with the skills to defend their organisations against security breaches and prevent future attacks.

Manchester has been recognised as a Top 20 European Digital City and just last year the UK’s Government Communications HQ (GCHQ) established a new centre in Manchester. Using cutting-edge technology to identify and disrupt cyberthreats to the UK, the centre contributes to Manchester’s reputation as ‘one of the best cities in the world’ for developing and harnessing digital technology.

Stephen Jones, SANS MD for the UK and Nordics, said: “Our strategy this year is to bring SANS training events to key regional cities throughout Europe. In the UK this means extending SANS training events outside of London, where we already run at least 10-track training events on a monthly basis, to other key, digitally-focused cities in the UK. In order to provide world-class training to Manchester’s information security practitioners, SANS is delighted to be running our first training event in Manchester for the first time in February. This will offer five week-long courses and provide the best in-depth technical cybersecurity training available from world-leading cybersecurity experts.

“We ran a smaller but well-supported training event in Cardiff at the end of last year and Manchester was an obvious next choice because of its status as a top 20 European Digital City and rapid growth as a tech and cybersecurity hub. This includes the new GCHQ centre there and very recent announcement that the GCHQ Accelerator will offer 11 companies in the area, which all create products to improve citizen safety in a digitally connected world, support and mentoring from its tech experts.”

SANS live training takes the form of a week-long event which for a 10-course event can often be attended by around 300 cybersecurity professionals at one time. This means that, as well as providing week-long in-depth technical training in the latest cutting-edge cybersecurity techniques, SANS training events also provide fantastic opportunities to network with industry peers and experts and to attend additional evening activities such as night talks and NetWars competitions that allow delegates to test their skills alongside others in the industry.
