Argyll Data Development has announced a landmark partnership with US-based SambaNova Systems to deliver the UK\u2019s first renewable-powered sovereign AI inference cloud, marking a major step in combining artificial intelligence with sustainable energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project will be based at Killellan Farm on Scotland\u2019s Cowal Peninsula, anchoring the new Killellan AI Growth Zone, a 184-acre green digital campus designed to merge AI sovereignty, energy independence and environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harnessing wind, wave and solar energy generated on-site, Argyll will deploy SambaNova\u2019s air-cooled SN40L systems – hardware engineered for maximum efficiency and minimal power consumption. Each rack uses about one-tenth the energy of conventional GPU systems while maintaining enterprise-grade performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SambaNova CEO Rodrigo Liang called Argyll \u201ca blueprint for scaling AI responsibly,\u201d highlighting the partnership\u2019s ability to pair renewable power with high-performance computing to maximise performance per watt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first phase of the Killellan site will provide up to 600 megawatts of capacity, eventually scaling beyond 2 gigawatts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Expected to generate \u00a315 billion in investment and over 3,000 jobs, Argyll\u2019s closed-loop design will also repurpose waste heat for vertical farming, aquaculture and district heating – setting a new standard for sustainable AI infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
