Nokia has secured a landmark three-year agreement with Telecom Italia (TIM) to expand and modernise the operator\u2019s 5G network – marking one of the company\u2019s most significant wins in the Italian market in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Announced after a competitive tender, the deal will extend Nokia\u2019s footprint into new regions while supporting TIM\u2019s mission to close the digital divide and accelerate Digital Transformation for businesses across Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The upgrade focuses on bringing faster, more reliable connectivity to smaller towns and rural communities, aligning with TIM\u2019s sustainability goals and national competitiveness priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the contract, Nokia will supply equipment from its AirScale Radio Access Network portfolio, including its new Habrok 32 Massive MIMO radios and Pandion remote radio heads, designed to boost performance across diverse deployment environments. TIM will also integrate Nokia\u2019s latest Lodos baseband solutions, powered by ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, to enhance capacity, scalability and energy efficiency across its 4G and 5G networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nokia will further expand deployment of its AI-driven MantaRay SON platform, enabling smarter automation and optimisation to improve network quality and user experience. The agreement also covers deployment, maintenance and AI-enhanced support services aimed at maximising operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TIM CEO Pietro Labriola said the partnership reinforces the operator\u2019s leadership in next-generation connectivity, enabling ‘faster, smarter and more sustainable’ networks nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nokia President and CEO Justin Hotard said the collaboration will help unlock Italy\u2019s next wave of digital innovation, strengthening competitiveness and laying the foundation for emerging AI-powered services. The project is scheduled to begin early next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
