Nokia and Ericsson have announced a landmark collaboration to accelerate intelligent automation across purpose-built cloud RAN and Open RAN networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agreement advances open standards and promotes compatibility across their respective rApp portfolios, supporting multivendor SMO ecosystems and giving communication service providers greater choice as they transition toward Autonomous Networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ericsson has joined Nokia\u2019s SMO Marketplace, an open platform that enables CSPs and partners to build integrate and deploy automation applications within a multivendor environment. Nokia will also become a member of the Ericsson rApp Ecosystem, built around the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform, which supports open multivendor and multi-technology network management and automation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mutual ecosystem membership highlights both companies\u2019 shared commitment to Autonomous Networks, with a strong focus on innovation through the standardised R1 interface that enables rApps to interact with the SMO. By aligning on open frameworks and operational models, Nokia and Ericsson aim to accelerate the adoption of AI-driven automation across deployment optimisation and operations workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The collaboration enhances cross-industry development and simplifies integration of automation tools across complex multivendor environments. rApps from both companies will be made available on each platform, expanding interoperability and market access.
