It represents an investment of more than \u20ac100 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A significant increase in computing power to support TotalEnergies\u2019 projects<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this increase in processing speed, Pangea 5 will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Expand the deployment of advanced seismic engineering to enhance the accuracy of subsurface imaging and accelerate exploration to support the company\u2019s strategy for low-cost and low-emission hydrocarbon production;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Support R&amp;D uses of AI and meet growing digital needs to optimise computing times and deepen the understanding of complex phenomena such as integrated power models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Controlled energy consumption and CO2 emissions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pangea 5 will rely on specialised processors capable of massively parallel computations, offering greater energy efficiency than previous versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At equal performance, Pangea 5\u2019s energy consumption will be reduced by approximately 40%, and its associated cooling system\u2019s consumption will be cut by a factor of five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The residual heat generated by the supercomputer will be recovered and used to help heat the buildings of the CSTJF, which host more than 2,500 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pangea 5 will first be commissioned in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cArtificial intelligence and digital technology are strategic drivers of our energy transition.
