Adyen will support non-Crown card payments and pay by bank for approximately 1,000 public sector services across local authorities, armed forces and the police. The partnership will help power future payment innovation across the public sector.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UK Government Digital Service (GDS) has appointed Adyen, the global financial technology platform of choice for leading businesses, as the new payment services provider (PSP) for non-Crown card payments and pay by bank services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GOV.UK Pay, the government\u2019s online payment service built by GDS, enables public sector organisations to take payments quickly, securely and accessibly. Since launching in 2016, GOV.UK Pay has processed more than \u00a39 billion through over 135 million transactions for services across central and local government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new agreement will see public sector organisations, including local councils, armed forces and police, transition from Stripe to Adyen for their GOV.UK Pay processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appointment follows a competitive procurement process and marks the next phase in GOV.UK Pay\u2019s plans to modernise public sector payments and introduce additional payment methods, including pay by bank capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By moving onto Adyen\u2019s unified financial technology platform, GOV.UK Pay will benefit from modern payments infrastructure built to support enterprise-scale transaction volumes, faster innovation cycles and evolving consumer payment preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adyen\u2019s architecture removes complexity associated with fragmented payment systems, enabling more secure and efficient operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the transition, approximately 1,000 services will migrate onto Adyen\u2019s platform, drawing on Adyen\u2019s track record of migrating high-volume global businesses with continuity of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GOV.UK Pay will manage the migration process directly with service teams to ensure continuity and minimise disruption for organisations and citizens making payments online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The migration is expected to take place in phases, with no disruption or loss of functionality for paying users.
