Concerns over data residency, privacy, compliance and control are driving demand for sovereign AI infrastructure that allows businesses to benefit from artificial intelligence without transferring sensitive information outside European jurisdictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeking to capitalise on that shift is TensorX, a new AI inference platform launched by a team of Irish founders with an initial commitment of \u20ac8 million to NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, including the latest B300 chips. The company is positioning itself as a European alternative for organisations seeking AI infrastructure that combines high performance with strict data sovereignty requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded by Shane Morton, TensorX is already generating revenue from paying customers and is targeting enterprises in finance, healthcare and legal services, sectors where compliance requirements and data protection obligations are particularly stringent. The company is also part of the NVIDIA Inception programme and is working with Dell to source GPU hardware as it expands its infrastructure footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The launch comes at a time when European businesses are under increasing pressure to deploy AI technologies while simultaneously ensuring compliance with regulations such as GDPR and the EU AI Act. For many organisations, that balancing act has become more challenging as AI services continue to be dominated by large international cloud providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TensorX&#8217;s answer is to provide high-performance AI inference with zero data retention, operating entirely on dedicated infrastructure located in Dublin and Helsinki. The company says no customer data is stored, logged or reused, providing enterprises with greater control over how and where their information is processed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm is also in advanced discussions regarding a financing facility that would support a broader European rollout. Future GPU deployments are planned across Ireland, the UK, Germany, France and the Nordic region as demand continues to increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Demand from multiple markets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TensorX says it is already serving three distinct customer groups. The first includes large regulated enterprises that require long-term sovereign infrastructure contracts. The second consists of partnership channels such as OpenRouter, which direct developer demand towards sovereign GPU capacity. The third group comprises small and medium-sized businesses developing AI-powered products and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among those customers are APEX, TradeLocker and Cor Prime, companies that rely on AI infrastructure while needing assurances around privacy, compliance and operational control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent growth has been driven by inbound demand from Germany, France, Denmark and the Netherlands, reflecting broader market trends across Europe. As implementation deadlines associated with the EU AI Act move closer, organisations are increasingly reassessing where their AI workloads are hosted and how data is handled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the centre of the opportunity is AI inference, the process that powers every chatbot interaction, coding assistant request and AI-generated response. While model development often attracts the headlines, inference is rapidly emerging as one of the most commercially valuable parts of the AI ecosystem because it represents the ongoing computational workload required to serve users in real time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For European organisations, however, inference introduces significant concerns around privacy and governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many enterprises remain wary of sending proprietary information, customer records or commercially sensitive data through infrastructure controlled by third parties. For organisations in sectors such as finance, healthcare and law, those concerns can have regulatory as well as operational implications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TensorX argues that sovereign infrastructure provides a practical solution by ensuring that data remains within Europe and is processed under European legal frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue has gained additional prominence because of legislation such as the US CLOUD Act, which can compel US-headquartered cloud providers to provide customer data to American authorities regardless of where the information is physically stored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For many European organisations, that creates uncertainty around data sovereignty and legal accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;European companies don&#8217;t want to make a political statement about their AI stack. They want to make a practical one,&#8221; said Tim Grant, Executive Chairman, &nbsp;TensorX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Their data has to stay in Europe, on infrastructure they can trust, under laws they are required to comply with. This is what TensorX was built from, from the chips up. We&#8217;re excited to grow this team to power our ambitions to scale rapidly.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Built from a customer need<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The origins of TensorX lie in the experiences of founder Shane Morton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before launching the company, Morton built and sold financial trading software and later acquired ICT Services, one of Ireland&#8217;s leading data centre infrastructure businesses. Through his involvement with fintech companies, he repeatedly encountered organisations eager to adopt AI but reluctant to compromise on data residency requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That feedback became the foundation for TensorX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morton has personally committed \u20ac4 million towards NVIDIA hardware procurement, with \u20ac2 million already delivered and a further \u20ac2 million on order. The company is leveraging ICT Services&#8217; procurement relationships to secure access to advanced GPU technology at a time when global demand continues to outstrip supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The availability of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs is expected to be a significant differentiator as enterprises increasingly seek infrastructure capable of supporting advanced AI workloads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Demand for sovereign AI infrastructure is outpacing supply across Europe,&#8221; said Shane Morton, founder of Darius Cubed Ventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re seeing it directly from enterprises in Germany, France, the Netherlands and the Nordics. Our \u20ac8 million investment is the opening move. There is a far bigger buildout to come, and the infrastructure partnerships we have in Ireland mean we can move at the speed this market demands.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A growing European market<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The market indicators supporting TensorX&#8217;s strategy appear increasingly favourable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Accenture, 62% of European organisations are now seeking sovereign AI solutions, rising to 76% among banking institutions. Gartner forecasts that by 2030, 75% of European enterprises will move AI workloads to local providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, IDC projects that European AI spending will reach US$144.6 billion by 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those figures suggest that demand for local AI infrastructure will continue to rise as enterprises move beyond experimentation and begin deploying AI at scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For businesses operating in highly regulated sectors, sovereign infrastructure may increasingly become a requirement rather than a preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That trend is creating opportunities for a new generation of European AI providers seeking to build alternatives to global cloud platforms. While the hyperscale providers remain dominant, companies such as TensorX are betting that regulatory requirements, privacy concerns and geopolitical considerations will encourage organisations to diversify their infrastructure choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether that shift becomes widespread remains to be seen.
