Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top 10 global operators, has completed the expansion and renovation of its Istanbul data centre with the adoption of state-of-the-art energy efficient equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, data centres consume more than 2% of the world\u2019s electricity, requiring the implementation of more efficient technologies able to meet the growing demand for services while decreasing energy consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sparkle has been the first in Turkey to introduce Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries in its premises in 2018, becoming the first green data centre in the country; located in Yenibosna and served by Sparkle\u2019s Tier 1 global IP Transit service Seabone, it is one of the largest and most important open colocation facilities in Turkey, featuring advanced technologies and sophisticated monitoring systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the last year, the facility has been completely restructured and expanded with additional 300 m2<\/sup> of white space area; moreover, several energy-related interventions have been carried out to improve the data centre\u2019s environmental sustainability, reliability and efficiency while providing additional power and space to new and existing customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Updates included replacement of the power system with the adoption of energy efficient technologies for all its components – Medium and Low Voltage (MV and LV) transformers, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) and batteries \u2013 and the introduction of a new cooling system able to increase capacity by 40% while reducing consumption by 14%.
