By 2022, 96% of CIOs\nwill have digitised at least half of their company\u2019s workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, CIOs are facing challenges in fully realising the potential impact of digitisation because of weaknesses in their organisation, which are undermining digitisation strategy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"994\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/10\/ServiceNow-Digital-Workflows-Nov-2019-CIO-research-infographic-994x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-98881\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/10\/ServiceNow-Digital-Workflows-Nov-2019-CIO-research-infographic-994x1024.jpg 994w, https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/10\/ServiceNow-Digital-Workflows-Nov-2019-CIO-research-infographic-291x300.jpg 291w, https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/10\/ServiceNow-Digital-Workflows-Nov-2019-CIO-research-infographic-768x791.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/10\/ServiceNow-Digital-Workflows-Nov-2019-CIO-research-infographic.jpg 1275w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 994px) 100vw, 994px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To advance digitisation and drive greater\nsuccess across business functions, EMEA CIOs should consider these five steps as\nbeing critical:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Collaborating\nwith C-suite peers<\/em><\/strong>: While 61% of CIOs say they\ncollaborate with their company\u2019s COO to standardise workflows through digitisation\nand 50% of CIOs say they collaborate with their CEOs, far fewer work with other\nexecutives. In fact, 21% say they alone are responsible for workflow digitisation.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Collaborating\nwith external partners<\/em><\/strong><em>: <\/em>While\n51% of CIOs say their collaboration with external partners is mostly effective,\nfor many, the value they get from those relationships remains a work in\nprogress. Only 17% say they\u2019re highly effective at working with external\npartners to drive Digital Transformation projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Aligning digitisation goals to\nbusiness goals<\/em><\/strong><em>. <\/em>Just 18% of CIOs report that they are highly\neffective at setting business goals that permeate all areas of the business. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Embedding\nIT into an organisation<\/em><\/strong><em>. <\/em>Few\nCIOs excel at embedding IT across the business, with just 15% agreeing their\norganisation is highly effective at building out specialised teams across\nfunctions to carry out Digital Transformation. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Tracking\nresults and adjusting strategy<\/em><\/strong><em>. <\/em>There\u2019s\nsubstantial room for improvement on how digitisation efforts are shared with\nthe business, as only 18% of CIOs think they are highly effective at measuring\nprogress and presenting results to leadership. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCIOs are playing a\npivotal role in driving Digital Transformation strategies and their efforts are\nimproving outcomes across multiple business areas, including HR, finance, IT\nand legal,\u201d said Chris Pope, VP Innovation, ServiceNow. \u201cYet many\nCIOs are struggling to push through lasting benefits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo really make an impact with a digitisation strategy, CIOs need to\naddress the people and process aspects within their organisation.
