Legrand<\/a>, a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures, has announced that MultiLane, Inc<\/a>, has independently verified that the Infinium Quantum Fiber System<\/a> increases network performance \u2013 beyond IEEE\u2019s industry-standard fibre connectivity loss \u2013 to provide greater network efficiency. In addition, Infinium Quantum was shown to achieve significant Bit Error Rate (BER) improvement with a notable reduction of Forward Error Correction (FEC) codewords. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor many years, the conventional wisdom held that any performance level at or beneath the IEEE standard was deemed to be good enough,\u201d said Gene Smith, Director of Product Management and Marketing, Legrand. \u201cHowever, when it comes to today\u2019s complex electronics and more advanced modulation schemes, \u2018good enough\u2019 will not do. Thanks to MultiLane\u2019s foresight to conduct this test we now have the verified data that clearly shows Infinium Quantum\u2019s dramatic effects of optimising optical headroom to increase the overall network performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MultiLane has been helping transceiver vendors optimise their products and pass standard specifications for nearly a decade. In a real-world production environment, the Infinium Quantum fibre system was tested via the MultiLane ML4054B<\/a> 400G transceiver test platform. The results verified that Legrand\u2019s solution, when compared to standard fibre, realised a 3.6x BER improvement, 1.04dB total link loss reduction and a 1.77x decrease in FEC Corrections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs system integrators continue to navigate the challenge of scaling network capacity and balancing cost, fibre selection can just as easily be an inhibitor or enabler,\u201d said Kees Propstra, VP Marketing, MultiLane. “The Infinium Quantum system has proven to unlock more optical headroom while future-proofing fibre investments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the 2021 Lightwave Innovation Reviews panel has given the Infinium Quantum Fiber System<\/a> a rating of 4.5 out of 5.
