Movistar Empresas is partnering with the IBM ecosystem to take advantage of the open hybrid cloud architecture and build next-generation solutions for clients in Colombia.

Movistar Empresas has announced its commitment to join the ecosystem of IBM business partners, collaborating with the IBM Cloud for Telecommunications, to develop business solutions, taking advantage of the open hybrid cloud architecture of IBM.

This alliance seeks to help companies to harness the power of Edge and 5G technology, accelerating modernization efforts and thus promoting business transformation and growth.

Based on IBM Cloud Satellite, IBM Cloud for Telecommunications enables clients to deploy cloud services anywhere: in the cloud, on-premises, or on Edge technology, while addressing the specific security and data protection requirements of the industries. Colombian companies will benefit from the solutions offered by Movistar and IBM, designed to extract more value from data and drive innovation.

According to an IBM study, 58% of CEOs in Colombia say that partnerships or alliances have increased in importance as a result of the pandemic. Working together, Movistar and IBM will combine the best technology and deep experience in the industry to develop cutting-edge solutions based on advanced technologies such as cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Blockchain, among others, to support companies of all sizes and in all industries.

“We are focused on bringing the best technological trends, more feasible, effective, and with the best benefits to companies in the country. Today our large, medium and small business clients will be able to get on and take their documentation and processes in the cloud that IBM offers, counting on the best connectivity through our network and the support and security of IBM,” said Fabián Hernández, President CEO Telefónica Movistar Colombia.

“By integrating IBM Cloud for Telecommunications, Movistar Empresas is taking advantage of an open hybrid cloud architecture to develop advanced solutions that will drive the modernization of its clients,” said Patricio Espinosa, General Manager of IBM Colombia, Venezuela, and the Caribbean Region. “This base is very important in Colombia, as companies seek to recover from the pandemic. Teaming up with IBM, Movistar can rapidly innovate using hybrid cloud capabilities to deliver next-generation 5G and Edge services, implement and manage new cloud capabilities, and enrich relationships through AI-driven engagement.”

IBM Cloud for Telecommunications is designed to integrate advanced Artificial Intelligence and automation processes into the Edge and can accelerate service deployment while reducing overall costs. Based on IBM Cloud Satellite and using Red Hat OpenShift, ecosystem partners can benefit from an open, container-based architecture that enables operators, enterprises and their customers to integrate, automate and orchestrate how they run their network and load IT workloads in any environment.

Movistar in Colombia now tops the list of more than 40 business associates who joined IBM Cloud for Telecommunications worldwide, to help drive business transformation and unlock the power of 5G and Edge.
