Digital Transformation means understanding business processes from a comprehensive perspective of human talent, technological tools and process definitions that allow not only the ability to streamline and automate but also to generate new business model possibilities by making the most of available technologies.

The working reality of many companies has changed and, as a result, many have changed their working models. After the COVID-19 pandemic, talking about Digital Transformation became very common.

In fact, according to a study by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), during the Coronavirus crisis, the online business presence in Latin America increased and the websites of companies in countries such as Colombia and Mexico grew by 800%.

However, although organizations are undergoing accelerated digitization processes, there is still a lack of knowledge concerning employees and users about the values and functionalities of the technologies implemented.

The transformation process in organizations presents new challenges that directly impact one of its most important assets: people.

Daniel Niño, Senior Manager of Connectivity and Collaboration at Axity, said: “Transforming culture is adopting new ideas, criteria, standards, work practices and behaviors. So, when we talk about Digital Transformation, we are referring to the implementation of new technologies and the adoption of them within a business culture, involving not only the senior management but also all collaborators.”

What do Axity and its experts recommend for a successful technology adoption plan?

These are the main aspects to consider in the current reality that we have to deal with:

  • Use internal promoters: Lead, in the first stage, the adoption process of any technology with sponsors from different areas, conveying the message of change to all levels of the organization.
  • Analyze the cultural environment of the business: Diagnose the current state of organizational culture and understand what the company needs.
  • Involve people: Involve the entire organization when defining a technology adoption process.
  • Analyze priorities: Know what the requirements of the company are and what needs it seeks to satisfy before integrating any tool.
  • Long-term commitment: When engaging all employees, it is important to have the support of all those involved so that the strategies can be comprehensive and achieve positive results with the adoption of technologies.
  • Process analysis: Assess the willingness of employees to change, which may involve the implementation or inclusion of new functionality in a technological solution.

The benefits of new technologies within an organization can range from increasing customer satisfaction, optimizing business processes and improving communication to having real-time access to information from anywhere, facilitating decision making.

Axity has helped more than 5,000 users to adopt new technologies in industries such as education and health. According to an internal study, entrepreneurs believe that the failure of a Digital Transformation can happen primarily because of the lack of culture within an organization, with 74.1% and 56.3% believing it is due to budget issues.

“When you ensure people know how to handle new technology solutions, you ensure the return on investment within the company since people have more tools to help the organization achieve greater efficiency, productivity and profitability. One of the main advantages of new technologies is that they are the basis for business growth,” said Niño.
