Arelion\u00a0has announced it has deployed a new dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) route from\u00a0Monterrey\u00a0to Quer\u00e9taro,\u00a0Mexico, providing wholesale and enterprise customers with high-capacity optical transmission services and direct access to Arelion’s local ecosystem of cloud, content and security applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new route utilises completely underground fibre construction, offering reliable connectivity options to current legacy infrastructure, and connects Mexico’s top digital hub to Arelion’s fibre-based backbone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This network expansion continues Arelion’s on-going investment in Mexico to support the country’s cloud, Information Communications Technology (ICT) and manufacturing sectors through low-latency connectivity services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quer\u00e9taro, located in central Mexico, has low susceptibility to earthquakes and is in close proximity to Mexico City. Quer\u00e9taro is leading Mexico’s data centre boom, with studies estimating that 73 data centres will be established in the region by 2029 and that 15% of Mexico’s total data centre footprint is in Quer\u00e9taro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quer\u00e9taro is also an aerospace manufacturing hub, seeing US$129 million in investment in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arelion’s Quer\u00e9taro Points-of-Presence (PoPs) also serve as centralised hubs supporting access to content and applications for customers in Guadalajara, San Luis Potosi and Merida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following Arelion’s recent build-out from the U.S. to Monterrey, this new route continues Arelion’s mission to strengthen Mexico’s local content ecosystem while supporting global cloud, media and gaming providers through low-latency service delivery to end users in the region. This network expansion reduces the risk of service outages and improves customer experiences, supporting content localization in Quer\u00e9taro. This new route also offers end-to-end connectivity on Arelion’s fiber backbone to markets such as Northern Virginia, Silicon Valley, Dallas and Atlanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major cloud providers have established cloud regions in Quer\u00e9taro, with Arelion’s routes serving hyperscalers and content providers who require high-capacity connectivity into the region to support enterprises and the nearshoring boom driving manufacturing in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arelion’s new routes leverage the latest C+L band open optical line systems and next-generation 400G\/800G coherent optical pluggables to enable terabit-scale Wavelength deliveries. These routes strengthen Arelion’s existing cloud connection capabilities in Mexico, with the global Internet carrier currently providing resilient connectivity to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in Quer\u00e9taro and Monterrey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new route connects Arelion’s diverse PoPs in Monterrey (Equinix \u2013 MO1) and (Neutral Networks – Pabell\u00f3n M) to Quer\u00e9taro (Equinix \u2013 MX1) and (KIO \u2013 QRO1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arelion currently has nine regional terabit-scale PoPs in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This new route complements Arelion’s existing high-capacity cross-border connectivity from Monterrey (Neutral Networks \u2013 Pabell\u00f3n M) into Laredo, TX (VTX) and Monterrey (Equinix \u2013 MO1) into McAllen, TX (MDC \u2013 MCA2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
