The APAS SHOW will be held from May 18 to 21 at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo (SP).

In addition to following trends, the company will seek to demonstrate, in practice, how its solutions help solve concrete day-to-day challenges, such as queues, loss control and friction at checkout.

“The sector is going through an important moment, in which operational efficiency and consumer experience are increasingly strategically connected. Being present at APAS SHOW allows us to closely monitor the challenges of the sector so that we can continue to contribute even more with solutions that really lead to improvements to the retailers’ operation and to the consumer’s shopping journey,” said Elias Rogério da Silva, Vice President, Diebold Nixdorf, Latin America.

During the event, the company will present its portfolio of solutions aimed at transforming retail, with emphasis on self-checkout technologies and Artificial Intelligence applications. Among the innovations are:

Vynamic Smart Vision | Shrink Reduction: The solution helps retailers prevent losses at self-checkout terminals by identifying, in real time, conscious or unconscious operational errors. With a camera observing the product scanning area and with the support of AI, the solution recognises inconsistencies such as unscanned items, partial product scanning and barcode changes, among other cases. If an incorrect operation is detected, the customer is informed by means of a message on the self-checkout screen, so that they can correct it. The solution also notifies employees about the operation so that they can act if necessary.

Vynamic Smart Vision | Age Verification: Automates age verification to streamline sales of restricted products, such as alcoholic beverages. Through a camera directed to the buyer, an algorithm estimates the person’s age in real time, without storing any personal information in the system. Thus, consumers can prove their age privately in less than 10 seconds, reducing a time-consuming step that store associates usually have to take.

Vynamic Smart Vision | Fresh Produce Recognition: Using camera-enabled computer vision and algorithms trained on thousands of images, the technology automatically recognises items sold by weight or quantity, without barcodes, such as fruits, vegetables and greens. Once the item is placed on the scanner/scale and the fresh produce function is selected, the solution identifies the product type using a unique computer vision algorithm. The identified item is displayed on the screen or a small picklist is presented so that the buyer can select the correct product. In addition to making the purchase journey faster and more fluid, the solution reduces identification errors that can impact the retailer’s margins, ensuring greater operational accuracy and reducing the need for employee intervention during checkout.

Scan and Go: It is a solution that integrates a self-checkout terminal, mobile product scanning system and cart weighing scale to facilitate the shopping process. The solution allows the customer to scan the products from their own cell phone and complete the purchase at the terminal. The scale positioned next to the self-checkout confirms the total weight of the scanned products, ensuring safety and accuracy. With this, it reduces queues and provides a fluid and friendly self-service experience. For the retailer, it brings more practicality, control and operational efficiency.

DN Series Express Check and Go: The self-checkout terminal has been developed to adapt to different store formats, following their needs and evolutions. It can be integrated with RFID baskets, which allow the simultaneous scanning of all products, making the journey more agile and fluid. With support for fully digital payments, it is connected to DN AllConnect Services for Retail, which guarantees up to 99.8% operational availability with real-time monitoring, continuous support and remote incident resolution. The equipment can also operate as an information device or assisted checkout.

All-in-One VynaPOS: The Point of Sale terminal offers high performance and efficiency, with configuration options and levels that can be scaled according to the needs of the operation. It has a multitouch screen, which ensures greater interactivity and precision for the operator. With simplified integration to peripherals and advanced management features, it optimises remote administration and keeps up with the evolution of retail processes. Its modern design and functionalities position the system at the centre of the shopping journey.

“In addition to showcasing our innovations, we want to participate in the discussions that are shaping the future of retail. The APAS SHOW is an important thermometer of the sector and an opportunity to understand how companies are dealing with their main challenges and where technology can generate the most impact,” said da Silva.

Company reinforces expansion strategy in Brazilian retail amid the digitalization of the sector.
