To improve agility and overcome limitations created by legacy platforms, RIMAC collaborated with Kyndryl to migrate key workloads from on-premises environments to OCI, upgrade databases and modernize critical business applications.

RIMAC selected Kyndryl because of its understanding of the insurer’s complex application landscape and its experience managing large-scale legacy environments. The modernization formed part of a long-term strategy to strengthen resilience, improve operational efficiency and support future innovation.

“Operating at RIMAC’s scale requires technology platforms that are flexible, resilient and highly available,” said Carlos Herrera, Executive Vice President of IT and Data, RIMAC. “By modernizing our critical systems with Kyndryl using multicloud architectures, we reduced processing times by up to 80% and gained the agility to scale as demand grows. Together, we successfully laid the foundation for a more agile and resilient operation that will enhance our ability to respond to customer needs.”

Maintaining business continuity throughout the migration was a priority. The insurer’s core insurance systems had evolved over decades, creating tightly connected applications supporting auto, health and life insurance. Large transactional datasets had to remain synchronized while workloads were transferred into a new cloud architecture.

RIMAC already operated a multicloud strategy, using Amazon Web Services for digital channels and Google Cloud Platform for analytics. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Exadata were selected for core transactional workloads because of their performance, availability and enterprise database capabilities.

“Moving to more resilient cloud architectures and addressing legacy complexity does not have to compromise operational continuity,” said Rodolfo Armellini, Managing Director, Kyndryl Latin America Southwest. “This project demonstrates how a well-executed modernization strategy can help organizations reduce complexity while strengthening operational stability and adapt and scale. The modernization positions RIMAC to compete more effectively while supporting its broader Digital Transformation.”

Kyndryl Consult worked with RIMAC to develop a phased modernization roadmap combining architectural redesign, extensive testing and staged migrations over 15 months. Specialists across infrastructure, networking, applications, security, data and analytics collaborated to migrate legacy servers to Oracle Exadata, upgrade databases and integrate workloads across OCI, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.

More than 55% of RIMAC’s transactional workloads, including its most complex systems, were migrated successfully to the cloud. Rehearsal migrations and validation exercises identified issues before production cutovers, ensuring customers experienced no service disruption.

“Modernizing critical platforms in highly regulated industries such as insurance requires a cloud infrastructure designed to deliver high performance, security and resilience at its core,” said Danni Mnitentag, Vice President, Alliances and Channels, Oracle. “With OCI, RIMAC now has a technology foundation built to support mission-critical transactional workloads, integrate multicloud environments and enable a more efficient, future-ready operation.”

The project also included upgrades to operating systems, communication components and firewall configurations, together with enhanced monitoring, auditing and data-masking capabilities supporting future data modernization.

The completed environment enables RIMAC to increase computing resources as demand changes while improving disaster recovery, resilience and operational flexibility. The insurer is also exploring expanded analytics, AI-enabled operational automation, intelligent service desk capabilities and automated incident response to strengthen efficiency further.

The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between Kyndryl and RIMAC and demonstrates how carefully planned cloud modernization can deliver measurable business outcomes without compromising continuity.

The project also reflected the growing importance of multicloud strategies across regulated industries, where organizations must balance performance, security and compliance while continuing to modernize ageing systems. By combining Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with existing cloud investments, RIMAC created a flexible technology environment capable of supporting future application development, advanced analytics and AI-driven services.

The modernization provides a platform for continuous improvement rather than a one-time infrastructure refresh, enabling the insurer to respond more rapidly to changing customer expectations, regulatory requirements and market opportunities. It also demonstrates how experienced technology partners can reduce implementation risk through careful planning, phased migration strategies and close collaboration with internal IT teams, ensuring essential business services remain available throughout large-scale transformation programmes.

The implementation demonstrates how cloud modernization has evolved beyond infrastructure migration into a broader business transformation exercise. For insurers, resilient digital platforms enable faster product development, more responsive customer service and stronger operational governance while supporting increasingly demanding regulatory requirements. A carefully managed migration strategy also reduces technology debt, improves system availability and creates opportunities to introduce automation without disrupting existing operations.

For RIMAC, the new multicloud foundation provides flexibility to scale computing resources according to changing business demands while supporting future investments in analytics, artificial intelligence and digital services. For Kyndryl and Oracle, the project highlights how collaborative planning, rigorous testing and phased execution can help large enterprises modernize complex legacy environments with minimal operational risk. As organizations across Latin America continue accelerating Digital Transformation, projects such as this illustrate the value of combining cloud expertise, deep industry knowledge and long-term technology partnerships to deliver measurable operational improvements while preparing critical business systems for future innovation and sustained growth.

Kyndryl has helped Peruvian insurer RIMAC modernize its core transactional systems by migrating critical workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, strengthening resilience, improving agility and advancing Digital Transformation.
