Hardy, USTDA’s Deputy Director. “This technical assistance will help build a foundation of trusted technology for Salta’s digital future while creating new opportunities for American companies.”

The technical assistance will develop a comprehensive implementation plan covering four interconnected components: new fibre-optic networks connecting Salta’s municipalities to Argentina’s federal network to deliver reliable, high-speed connectivity to communities; expanded data centre capacity to support the province’s growing digital needs and enable expanded e-government services; smart infrastructure applications for intelligent transportation, education and healthcare; and digital solutions for emergency management systems.

USTDA-funded programming is carried out by US companies.

Gustavo Sáenz, Governor of Salta, said: “In Salta, we have a clear priority: to generate more development, more production, and more opportunities. And to get the engines of production running, we need infrastructure. Today, when we speak of infrastructure, we are no longer talking only about roads, bridges, or highways; we are also talking about connectivity and technology – fundamental tools for development through which information, knowledge, and a significant part of the present and future economy flow. This collaboration with the United States government is a crucial step toward further strengthening our technological infrastructure and incorporating tools like artificial intelligence, enabling us to create a Salta government that is more agile and accessible, while providing better services to the people of Salta.”

The Andes-Atlantic Corridor is a joint initiative of the United States and Argentina to modernise infrastructure connecting Argentina’s vital economic sectors to major Atlantic ports and Western markets. Through cooperation in transportation, energy, critical minerals and digital infrastructure, the two countries are advancing shared priorities for regional safety, security and prosperity while strengthening critical supply chains across the Western Hemisphere.

For Salta, the proposed infrastructure programme links municipal connectivity with the computing resources needed to deliver more government services digitally. The implementation plan will establish how these systems can be developed together, rather than as separate projects. Its focus on trusted suppliers also places network security at the centre of an initiative intended to support public administration, healthcare, education and emergency response.

Argentina’s Salta province is preparing a major overhaul of its telecommunications and digital infrastructure after securing US government backing for a programme to expand fibre-optic networks, increase data centre capacity and modernise public services.
