{"id":4027,"date":"2022-05-12T14:53:11","date_gmt":"2022-05-12T13:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/latam\/?p=4027"},"modified":"2022-05-26T09:02:08","modified_gmt":"2022-05-26T08:02:08","slug":"thales-finds-one-in-five-businesses-have-paid-or-would-pay-a-ransom-for-their-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/latam\/2022\/05\/12\/thales-finds-one-in-five-businesses-have-paid-or-would-pay-a-ransom-for-their-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Thales finds one in five businesses have paid or would pay a ransom for their data"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Research from Thales has found that malware, ransomware and phishing continue to plague global organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, one in five (21%) have experienced a ransomware attack in the last year; with 43% of those experiencing a significant impact on operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The frequency and impact of ransomware attacks has now accelerated due to the rise of cryptocurrency as the preferred ransomware payment method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, the <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=https-3A__cpl.thalesgroup.com_data-2Dthreat-2Dreport&amp;d=DwMGaQ&amp;c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&amp;r=EfMGYBONq4GOU40r5lw3FZlyx0SWRp3WzbtC2K29pjo&amp;m=-c3W_4iZjSw2djTjs1WoX4Fjc6LwO8OsIkRL4pRRTZ8&amp;s=xj7QzMd7D05VlTudWmiQshAb0ORLbnf6b3d0DgQH108&amp;e=\"><em>2022 Thales Data Threat Report<\/em><\/a>, conducted by 451 Research, including more than 2,700 IT decision-makers worldwide, found a fifth (22%) of organizations have admitted that they have paid or would pay a ransom for their data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, 41% of respondents said they had no plans to change security spending, even with greater ransomware impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sebastien Cano, Senior Vice President for Cloud Protection and Licensing Activities at Thales, said: \u201cAs the pandemic continues to affect both our business and personal lives, any expectation of a \u2018return\u2019 to pre-pandemic conditions have faded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhilst teams around the world have continued to face challenges in securing their data, our findings indicate that urgent action is needed by businesses to develop more robust cybersecurity strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe attack surface, as well as the asset management challenges, are only set to increase in the coming year, and it is vital that businesses deploy a robust security strategy based on discovery, protection and control.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Research from Thales has found that malware, ransomware and phishing continue to plague global organizations.
