{"id":680,"date":"2021-04-13T14:15:55","date_gmt":"2021-04-13T13:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/latam\/?p=680"},"modified":"2021-04-20T09:57:40","modified_gmt":"2021-04-20T08:57:40","slug":"regional-city-networks-launch-in-latin-america-and-south-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/latam\/2021\/04\/13\/regional-city-networks-launch-in-latin-america-and-south-asia\/","title":{"rendered":"Regional City Networks launch in Latin America and South Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>The World Economic Forum is launching Regional City Networks in Latin America and South Asia to bring the Fourth Industrial Revolution to small and medium-sized cities.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The World Economic Forum is launching two regional networks of cities in Latin America and South Asia to share knowledge on Smart City development while protecting public interests&nbsp;related to privacy, security and sustainability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the umbrella of the Forum\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/globalsmartcitiesalliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance<\/a>&nbsp;the two city networks will connect leading&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/press\/2020\/11\/in-the-face-of-extraordinary-challenges-36-pioneer-cities-chart-a-course-towards-a-more-ethical-and-responsible-future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pioneer cities&nbsp;<\/a>from the Global Alliance with smaller cities in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cities in Latin America and India will be invited to meet regularly to analyze Smart City policies and will receive technical support from the Forum\u2019s network of global experts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLatin America is home to some of the most exciting initiatives in Smart Cities today, but that success is not evenly spread,\u201d said&nbsp;Jos\u00e9 Manuel Restrepo<strong>,<\/strong>&nbsp;Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism of Colombia.&nbsp;\u201cColombia is honored to take on the task of co-ordinating the regional activities of the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance in Latin America, so that cities across the region can benefit from both global and regional knowledge exchange.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIndia already has one of the world\u2019s most ambitious Smart City programs, driven by the Government of India\u2019s Smart Cities Mission,\u201d said&nbsp;Purushottam Kaushik, Head of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution India.&nbsp;\u201cNow with input from the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance, Indian cities will have access to the world\u2019s foremost expertise in Smart City policy-making.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The World Economic Forum is launching Regional City Networks in Latin America and South Asia to bring the Fourth Industrial Revolution to small and medium-sized cities.
