Key aspects at Intersec 2015

The latest international trends and developments in keeping people, assets, and cities safe in the Middle East and Africa will share the spotlight when a power-packed line-up of six conferences returns to Intersec 2015.

Held in co-operation with the Dubai Police and the Dubai Civil Defence the value-added programme of conferences and workshops will cover Fire Safety, Information Security, Commercial Security, Technical textiles, Occupational Safety and Safety Design in Buildings.

A high-powered panel of industry experts will share experiences and case studies of industry-best practice, from mitigating corporate cyber-security threats in an increasingly digital world, to protecting thousands of workers on some of the world’s largest off-shore oil rigs.

“The Intersec conference programme has over the years been well-attended by regional security and safety experts and is widely regarded as a key source of valuable insight into the latest trends, developments, tactics and new products in the industry,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Intersec, which takes place from 18-20 January 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. “The conferences also serve as key interactive forums for the exchange of ideas and best practice, thus contributing to the development of the safety and security industry in the region,” he added.

Kicking off proceedings on the first day is the Intersec Fire Safety Conference on the 18th January – an interactive one-day summit focusing on fire detection, suppression and mitigation as well as highlighting human behaviour in fire situations. Safety standards and fire safety codes will also be discussed.

Touching on the hot issue of cyber security will be the Intersec Information Security Conference, also on the 18th January. Critical infrastructure protection and the response to urgent cyber security challenges, from electronic fraud to sabotage, malware to data manipulation, and theft of intellectual property will be front-of-mind.

Commercial security and the protection of key information in an increasingly more complex security environment will be examined at the Intersec Commercial Security Conference on the 19th January. The conference will discuss effective ways to protect critical areas and processes, increase employee safety and ensure the safe and uninterrupted delivery of services while safeguarding profits.

Also on the second day at Intersec is the Techtextil Middle East Symposium, covering the application of advanced and high-performance textiles in hazardous environs, paying specific attention to issues relevant to the Middle East, such as the difficulties faced by users operating in hot, arid climates.

On the final day of Intersec (20 January) the Occupational Safety Conference will focus on developing and implementing an effective occupational safety management system that ensures safety of operations and enables an organisation to monitor and manage risks related to the working environment.

Initiated in collaboration with Intersec, the Safety Design in Buildings Conference is a regular GCC-wide debating platform for best practice dialogues between safety professionals of the construction industry and authorities. The one-day summit on the 20th January will address fire safety and evacuation strategies, material as well as safety system requirements for high occupancy buildings.

Intersec 2015 will feature more than 1,300 exhibitors from over 50 countries and includes 13 country pavilions from Germany, UK, USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE. Now in its 17th edition, the three-day event is the world’s largest trade fair for security, safety, and fire protection, focusing on the five core areas of Commercial Security; Information Security; Fire & Rescue; Safety & Health; and Homeland Security & Policing.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Intersec is the largest and most international trade fair of Messe Frankfurt’s global network of security and safety exhibitions, which include: Secutech India, Secutech in Taiwan, Secutech Thailand, Intersec Buenos Aires, Secutech Vietnam and Seguriexpo Buenos Aires.
