GCC Big Data & Analytics Summit

GCC Big Data & Analytics Summit

A growing number of high-profile regional organisations will present their strategies and highlight the potential benefits of business analytics at Dubai’s forthcoming GCC Big Data & Analytics Summit in March 2015.

This top-management GCC forum has been designed for CEO and COO level participants – just as much as for CTOs and CIOs. It will take place at Dubai’s Address Marina Hotel from March 8-10 next year, with the support of leading GCC corporates and official organisations.

The Summit’s Speaker panel includes senior representatives of Deutsche Telekom, Injazat Data Systems, DU Telecoms, Halliburton, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Gulf Air. They will be joined at the event by (among others) senior IT thought-leaders from ADWEA, Etisalat, Emirates Group, Etihad Airways, Daman Health Insurance, ADCB and Mobily.

Advisory Board member Saeed Al Dhaheri, former Adviser on Information Systems to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated: “A conference like this is very timely. GCC public sector organisations know that data analytics are vitally needed to help them deliver more value for services.”

Kumar Ramanujam, Director of Conferences for the Summit’s organisers TMC of Dubai, pointed out: “’Big Data’ has become a strategic initiative for senior public and private sector managers in recent months. With expected enterprise growth of 50x year on year, according to IDC, organisations with a data-driven model are set to transform productivity and profitability. That’s why the cream of the region’s airlines, telcos, banks, software companies and public sector authorities are now taking up speaker and panel opportunities at the Summit.”

Day 1 will feature, for example, ‘Harnessing the Value of Big Data for Healthcare Transformation’ which will be addressed by Linda Van Dijk – Director Intelligence for Daman (National Health Insurance Company). She will examine the acquisition of the right data for better health-care decisions and greater efficiency, with specific examples from her own experience.

Looking at the major challenge of benefitting from ‘Big Data for Airlines’ will be three leading GCC aviation IT experts: Dr. Jassim Haji, Director of Information Technology for Gulf Air in Bahrain; Amit Manurkar, Leadership in BI, Analytics and Information Management for Etihad Airways and Arockiaraj Arockiam, Head of Big Data for Emirates Group IT. They will review maximizing income opportunities through pricing data analysis, loyalty insights with high-value customer analytics and technical know-how such as reducing fuel consumption through sensor data analysis.

Conference Day 1 will also host a panel discussion on ‘Big Data Monetization’ with Juergen Urbanski (former CTO Enterprise Service for Deutsche Telekom) and Dr Ruben Lara, Executive GM for External Data Monetization with Mobily.

On Day 2, Dr Mohamed Guidom, Corporate Strategy & Performance Lead for Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA), will speak on ‘Driving Strategy Execution Using Big Data Analytics.’ He will explain how poor strategy execution remains a major challenge for leadership teams – but how Big Data can predict with a high degree of precision why a strategy isn’t working, or whether it’s been the right one all along.

Among other highlights, Akshay Manikantan, Head of Marketing – Loyalty, Landmark Group will investigate Big Data Marketing Analytics and their influence on customer service and loyalty.
