Commvault’s Metallic marks six months in EMEA with availability in 20 Countries

Commvault, a global enterprise software provider in managing data across cloud and on-premises environments, is celebrating the six-month milestone of the availability of its award-winning Metallic SaaS-based data protection solutions in EMEA.

In this time, Metallic has delivered to customers secure, scalable, GDPR-compliant, and cost-effective enterprise-ready data management with single pane of glass management across SaaS, on-prem, public cloud, native and hybrid workloads. With backing from Microsoft and the appointment of Shai Nuni as the new Vice President of Metallic in EMEA, the SaaS offering seamlessly addresses growing business concerns around cost, scalability and security as it protect critical data.

After debuting in the US, in October 2020 Commvault announced the EMEA launch of Metallic initially to 10 countries in the region, including the UK, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Sweden. The company subsequently introduced Metallic to nine other EMEA countries in January 2021, including Austria, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and Switzerland, followed shortly by the UAE in April – the 20th EMEA country.

Yossi Gross, VP IT and CIO, BDO a Metallic customer, said: “Metallic is an advanced SaaS product that gives BDO a unified solution for the automation of all backup and recovery processes in Office 365 applications. We discovered an innovative and simple interface when it comes to setting up and management which allows us to back up a number of services from our Office 365 cloud and includes, among other things, data search and transfer capabilities to the cloud, between clouds or from the cloud to the BDO website as needed. Metallic is an easy-to-learn, easy-to-implement and easy-to-use solution.”

Marco Fanizzi, VP and GM, Commvault EMEA, added: “Together, Commvault and Metallic deliver an integrated portfolio to customers that are on a hybrid journey, but don’t want a one-size-fits-all solution. Customers can adopt our software, from our HyperScale X appliance to our Metallic Cloud Storage Service and Metallic BaaS capabilities, for workloads at different stages of their hybrid journey and still keep the power of a single experience, a single pane of glass from an operational perspective.”

In the January launch, Metallic added new data protection solutions, features and enterprise workload support.

“The integration of Office 365 tools with Microsoft Teams meant this solution is proving immensely popular amongst education leaders and this was reflected in the near 900% growth in Teams between March to June 2020,” said Shai Nuni, VP EMEA, Metallic. “This incredible uptake has made it even more important to ensure that secure backups for Office 365 are in place and that recovery in the event of data loss is quick and simple.”

Tad Brockway, Corporate Vice President Azure Storage, said: “Commvault and Microsoft have always delivered trusted technologies to our joint customers and this takes our longstanding relationship to the next level at a critical time for companies to adopt cloud and SaaS technologies. Metallic SaaS with Microsoft Azure delivers one of the industry’s most powerful solutions for storing and protecting business-critical data – in the cloud and beyond.”
