{"id":119004,"date":"2025-05-30T11:15:39","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T10:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/me\/?p=119004"},"modified":"2025-06-05T11:20:20","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T10:20:20","slug":"rakuten-symphony-and-zain-kuwait-partner-to-deploy-cloud-native-open-ran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/me\/2025\/05\/30\/rakuten-symphony-and-zain-kuwait-partner-to-deploy-cloud-native-open-ran\/","title":{"rendered":"Rakuten Symphony and Zain Kuwait partner to deploy Cloud-Native Open RAN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Rakuten Symphony and Zain Kuwait have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the organisations collaborate on a pilot project to establish a functional cloud-native Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zain Kuwait will utilise Rakuten Symphony\u2019s ORAN and Cloud portfolio to deliver 5G Standalone sites as part of a project that will represent Kuwait\u2019s first Open RAN deployment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will be the initial phase for planned large scale commercial deployment of Open RAN in Kuwait and across the Zain Group, which operates in eight countries across the Middle East and North Africa region.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the project, Rakuten Symphony will supply its innovative Open RAN virtualised Distributed Unit and Centralised Unit software, along with cloud-native virtualised software, as well as ensuring that its Open RAN solution is fully functional and capable of handling commercial traffic. Zain Kuwait will allocate the required cell sites as well as providing data centre infrastructure and 5G SA core with related transport connectivity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sharad Sriwastawa, President, Rakuten Symphony, said:\u202f\u201cRakuten Symphony is pleased to support Zain Kuwait in delivering the country\u2019s first Open RAN deployment.
