Mimecast, a leading email and data security company, will address the growing issue of targeted cyberattacks at this year\u2019s Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference<\/a> (GISEC).<\/p>\n

Mimecast will highlight the continuous challenges organisations face in defending against malicious attachments, dangerous file types, impersonation attacks and spam to help provide customers with cyberresilience for email.<\/p>\n

By showcasing its full range of advanced email security and data protection services, including new enhancements to targeted threat protection, Mimecast will highlight the importance of building a cyberresilience strategy in an evolving cyberthreat landscape.<\/p>\n

Cyberresilience expert, Hany George, will give a talk and perform live hacks to reveal simple techniques that hackers use to infiltrate organisations. These demonstrations will show how organisations can protect themselves against advanced cyberattacks like impersonation fraud.<\/p>\n

According to Mimecast\u2019s recent quarterly Email Security Risk Assessment (ESRA)\u00a0report<\/a>, incumbent email security systems are not providing sufficient security protection against known malware and impersonation attacks.<\/p>\n

It highlighted that 23,072 impersonation attacks were caught \u2013 increasing 22% in comparison quarter over quarter.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a new study from Mimecast and Vanson Bourne, which will be shared at GISEC, found that 40% of the 800 responding IT-decision makers saw an increase in impersonation attacks over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n

Mimecast will therefore be unveiling new enhancements to its targeted threat protection services – Impersonation Protect, URL Protect and Internal Email Protect \u2013 to combat and remediate the evolving threat landscape.<\/p>\n

\u201cA defence-only security strategy does not protect against the level and volume of advanced attacks that lead to financial and intellectual property loss, unplanned downtime and decreased productivity,\u201d said Brandon Bekker, Managing Director at Mimecast MEA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe encourage our customers to embrace a cyberresilience for email strategy that empowers them to secure, preserve and continue the flow of information via email. Despite investments in defence, attackers continue to innovate, developing advanced email-borne threats that are no match for defence systems. Mimecast will use the region\u2019s largest security conference to educate IT decision makers about the need to provide comprehensive security controls before, continuity during, and automated recovery after an attack,\u201d Bekker added.<\/p>\n

Mimecast is exhibiting at stand C13A and will host two live hacks each day. GISEC runs at the Dubai World Trade Centre between May 1 and 3.<\/p>\n
