{"id":27578,"date":"2018-07-09T10:29:38","date_gmt":"2018-07-09T09:29:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/me\/?p=27578"},"modified":"2018-07-13T11:30:08","modified_gmt":"2018-07-13T10:30:08","slug":"saudi-arabia-ranks-as-top-digital-banking-market-in-middle-east-and-north-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intelligentcio.com\/me\/2018\/07\/09\/saudi-arabia-ranks-as-top-digital-banking-market-in-middle-east-and-north-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Saudi Arabia ranks as top digital banking market in Middle East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saudi Arabia has been revealed in a new survey as the top digital banking market in the Middle East and North Africa, with more than three-quarters of banking customers using online or mobile apps.<\/p>\n<p>In a survey of regional banking customers by research firm ArabNet, 76% of Saudi banking customers use digital platforms and 60% use online and mobile apps, both ranking highest in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Top Saudi digital banking offerings are loyalty programmes (53%), mobile discount coupons (51%), and virtual prepaid debit cards (50%), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/~\/media\/mckinsey\/locations\/europe%20and%20middle%20east\/middle%20east\/overview\/insights\/digital%20banking%20in%20the%20gulf\/digital%20banking%20in%20the%20gulf%20161116%20digital.ashx\">according to McKinsey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe kingdom is one of the world\u2019s most digitally-advanced countries and banks are leading their transformation with real-time digital solutions to meet their customers\u2019 banking needs,\u201d said Khaled Alsaleh, Managing Director, SAP Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaudi banks are driving new and innovative banking models in line with Saudi Vision 2030 goals for economic growth and diversification.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Across the Middle East and North Africa, banking and security firms are driving their digital transformation, with US$12 billion being invested in technology, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/newsroom\/id\/3606417\">research firm<\/a> Gartner.<\/p>\n<p>Among the kingdom\u2019s biggest digital banking growth drivers are moving to the cloud, which SAP supports with the recent launch of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.ae\/search?q=site%3Asap.com+saudi+data+center&amp;oq=site%3Asap.com+saudi+data+center&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.4100j0j9&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">local public cloud data cent<\/a>re in the kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are co-innovating with Saudi banks on breakthrough cloud-based technology innovations in artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain and the Internet of Things to optimise costs, foster innovation, and transform the digital and in-person customer experiences,\u201d said Alsaleh.<\/p>\n<p>Recognising the company\u2019s success, SAP Saudi Arabia was recently recognised as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpifinancial.net\/events\/72\/banker-middle-east-industry-awards-2018\">Best Technology Provider \u2013 Middle East<\/a> at the Banker Middle East Awards.<\/p>\n<p>In the kingdom, SAP is also working closely on enabling the digital transformation of leading banking and financial institutions, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/mena\/2017\/07\/03\/idb-wins-banker-middle-east-award-for-digital-transformation\/\">Islamic Development Bank<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/mena\/2018\/04\/30\/saps-data-center-live-in-saudi\/\">Saudi Arabia Monetary Authority<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saudi Arabia has been revealed in a new survey as the top digital banking market in the Middle East and North Africa, with more than three-quarters of banking customers using online or mobile apps.
